yay!

that wasn't bad at all. just got back from my first session and it was really quick - in and out of there in 40 minutes or less. we started out with the laser set at a 22, but I think I could have gone a little higher. the pain wasn't bad at all, and even when there was it passed really quick. 

I can't wait to see what results I get out of the first session, they say after a week I might be able to notice something. fingers crossed!

there was a few places that were pretty painful, but it was over before I knew it. they had me cover my teeth with my toungue, did anyone else have to do that too? or was she just seeing what she could get away with, hahaha.

Never been told to cover my teeth with my tongue, but have been told to use it to push the areas of the lip out, to get to the areas that are a bit recessed, like the corners of the mouth, top of the lip.

One word of help, it gets much easier as hair coverage decreases, even though it sounds like you had no problems, kudos to you!   My last visit (which is mostly just maintenance now, at 12 or 13 sessions) , the therapist asked me if there were any problems last time, at which I honestly replied, absolutely no problems, and cranked me up to like 26 or 27 (lightsheer), and I ended up fried, and it has taken a week to heal the scabs, not good.   Take it slow, my advice, and don't push the therapist on cranking up settings.

If you have any pesky "white hairs" sticking around, and need to go for electro, you have my sympathy, that is the holy mother of hurt, imo.   My endorphins pretty much kick in on a dime these days...

LMX 5% Lidocaine Cream should be your new best friend.  Apply to the area to be treated 1 hour prior, a second coat 40 minutes prior and a third coat 20minutes prior.  It gets more painfull as they turn up the energy.  Also, take NSAID drug like Aleve or Advil a couple hours prior.  It will keep swelling and redness to a minimum.

she did say it was to force out the cheeks now that you mention it. I guess it was just weird the way that she described it to me. it made me think the laser was going to reach my teeth, hehehe.

I think they might have gave me some of that cream along with some sunscreen, I'll have to read the label again, but all I remember was "post laser cream" and they said use it morning and night for a few days after treatment. if this isn't the same stuff, is that something over the counter that I can pick up at a local pharmacy or is it something I would ask the laser technicians?

For post-laser care, I just use polysporin.  It's a gel and yucky, but really seems to help, and I only use it post-session until bedtime that day.

The treatment that some folks use for pre-laser / electro is emla, a topical anesthetic, ie numbing cream.  I've found it to be such a hassle, to apply so far ahead of time with the daily rigors of life, that I've chosen to just goto my various laser/electro therapies raw and just try to smile while having the various tortures applied to me.   In Canada, it's available at any pharmacy, just ask for EMLA, aka lidocaine 2.5%.   (if it's the same in the states).

Last week @ my electrolysis appointment my my tech gave me this new cream you apply after laser or electrolysis treatment called "Zcalm-Post Laser Revitalizing Cream" which worked great!!! I loved he fact that it has been specially manufactured for post laser & electrolysis treatments.

And "emala" is my next prescription topic when I see my endo later this month.

My laser tech used to live in Trinadad CO, and knows the grs surgeon's there and treated lots of us over the years. I have had two sessions and she has me cover my teeth with my tongue so the heat wouldn't radiate, i found the most painful place is around my jaw line the rest is a piece of cake. After my first session my face looked flushed the rest of the day but was back to normal the next, the only thing i used was moisturizer. My second visit was allot better and my face recovered more quickly. She also says not to shave for 2 days.
