POLICE officers are concerned about searching transsexual prisoners because of their religion, according to a report.

The concerns by some members of Lewisham Police, described as "ludicrous" by a transgender charity, were revealed in the minutes of a Lewisham Police senior management team meeting.

According to the minutes, published on the Met Police website, head of crime and operations Superintendent Wayne Nash raised the issue during a conversation about diversity.
