Sounds like a hesitation. What does it mean to you? I just bought mine ,brought it home and started using it. It is not a big step in my transitioning but maybe it is for you. So one of the questions I use to keep moving forward is ....What am I afraid of?
Once I have an honest answer it becomes easier to decide what is right and wrong for me.

Maybe because the label says it is for Men.  Peel off the label.

I've been using a generic for 6 months, and I am finally beginning to see good results in general rate of growth and new growth.

I found that it was only the frustration that you may not see results for 4 months, and the associated outlay that made me hesitate.

If you already got it.... just get on and use it girl!...

I use the 5% solution.  The box says that women should not use it.  The 1% solution is what Rogain for Women is, which is exactly what the original Rogain for men was.  It was just re-boxed into a more feminine label.

Well...

Anyway, I've had very good results from it after just a few weeks.  I could see new growth starting very quickly.  And after six months, my hair is becoming full enough and long enough that I can have it styled properly.  I am very happy with it.

If you do some research, you'll find that the problem with women using the stronger concentrate, is the possibility of accidentally growing hair where it is inappropriate for women to grow hair, like on their face!  Number one, I have just about finished having all my beard hair removed so there is less of a chance of that happening.  Also, according to the research, if you are very precise about washing your hands after applying the solution there is less chance of facial hair growth when you touch your face.

The thing is, do remember that this is a long term commitment.  If you stop using it, you will start to lose the hair that you grew.  And it is possible to lose *more* hair than when you started so be aware.

Just do it, Rita!!!

So.....it does seem to work for most people? I guess thats my issue...will it actually work.

I know they claim it doesnt do the front hairline....anyone beg to differ with that?

Thanks for your encouragement...Im going through a really hard time with the whole boy/girl deal right now.

I recently started working for a friend at a auto shop...its what I know and money is tight, so I really had to do it....trouble is, its a mans world there... :-\

So far, I have not met anyone who has said that it does not work.  The actual statistics is something like 85% will see some improvement.

It won't grow hair where there are no follicles.  So, that is correct, it will not fill in the classic "M" of a male hairline.  But then again, it won't grow hair on your palms either.  Or on a cue ball.

Once step at a time, Rita.  You can do it.

And take it from me, hon, it's whatever world out there you want to make it!  There are a lot of female mechanics out there.  Go for it!!!

The worst thing about minoxidil is applying it.... yuck.

I've been on it now for about 8 months, and while there has been improvement it's not a panacea. I'm still going to keep at it though.

And no there is no hair growing on my palms  :D

Hmm, I assume we are OK discussing dose on this, as it is an OTC non-prescription product.

Soo.. my current solution says 2%, but is a generic and isn't specific for men or women.....so that makes it the same as standard "Rogain".

I have found after 6 months that my hair growth rate has significantly increased (about 30% increase), density is generally increasing, and I have peach fuzz appearing at the front of my hairline in my "M" pattern (currently 3 to 5mm  or 1/10 to 1/4 in) .....still...it's a shame that reports here and elswhere suggest that it wil not grow beyond a fuzz in the "M". :-\

As I was happy with the results and to reduce my costs, I last ordered 5% on the web. Direct generics for Rogain Extra sell as six month supplies for the same price as one month of Rogain Extra in a store. Annual cost for treatment seems to be around £100, or $155. :)

I had some fill in on the front in the middle where things were starting to thin.  I started with 5% (Generic wallyworld)  After SRS I went down to Lady's strengh which was 2%.  It worked for me, but then again it started to grow hair on my back too,  Lucky the HRT stopped that.

I was told that something else causes hair on the palms, but I don't see that as being a problem   ;D

I buy 'Members Mark' generic minoxidil at Sam's club, and I think it's $20.00 for 6 months' supply.  For me, it lasts 3 months, so about $80.00 per year.
