Questions from an FTM's Girlfriend.....

Hi Everyone!

My Boyfriend is a pre-op FTM who has been on T for almost a year now..we have discussed many things about his transition and I am 100% supportive of his decisions.  I have my doubts about certain things but he assures me that it is just part of the process however I am scared that the more FTM's that we find on youtube and ftmtube and such...they all seem at one point throughout their transition to question their sexuality..and some decide to become gay men after their transition...this is a scary subject to me because I love my boyfriend and he loves me but I am worried the infatuation with having a penis will soon arrive to a desire to be with one sexually...any help regarding this situation please give me some knowlege because it is a worry to me...

You know, I've heard this before and I don't believe it's true of all FTMs. Certainly going through transition causes lots of questions to arise but some become more staunch in their "straightness" while others are gay. Have you discussed these concerns with your b/f? Have you discussed how far in his transition he will go?

A lot of the FTMs I know are straight and a few are gay. What I have discovered is that most who are straight were interested in girls prior to transition and those that are gay were interested in guys prior to transition. And some where pansexual (they were interested in everyone). Talk to him. Let him know your concern and ask questions.

I haven't seen any stats on it either. My therapist did a thesis on it, but I never asked what stats he gathered. It could be that those guys are more visible on the net because they're talking through this sort of change.

I haven't experienced a whole lot of FtM's changing orientation, but I have known some get more flexible (ie more open to the idea of male partners). That shouldn't be an issue in a monogamous relationship though.

Personally, I've been on T for four years now and had female partners before and a girlfriend now.

i'm mtf and my wife thinks the same thing, that once i fully transition, i will want a man and only men. i don't have any sexual interest in them now and sure don't plan on it anytime later either, BLEH!!!! 

talk to him and let him know how you feel, i'm sure he loves you and only you. i seriously doubt your lack of having a penis will make him leave or his lack of having one. to me that's like the old line saying lesbians use dildos and strapons because they have penis envy. hogwash!!! i don't have penis envy---eeeewwwwwww
