I need advice? What hormones are you presently on? and what type of HRT do you think is the most effective?

Over the last 10 years I've tried quite a few different types and so far ethinyestrodial has been the most effective for me personally. However, I'm interested in trying injectables Delestrogen as recently suggested by my endocrinologist. Has anyone any experience of this preperation and it's effects? It is not available in the U.K so it hasn't been easy to locate over here.

Hi Naturally Blond

I'm a u.k. resident doing pretty much the same as Kiera. They all work eventually but I'm a firm believer in IM EV.

I also take spiro and Dutas as Androcur made me pretty depressed but it works very well for me.

Wish i could get to be a contortionist like you though Kiera :)

I am on oral Estradiol and Sprionolactone.  My doctor does think that injectables are any better than orals.  And I am not getting bad results.

Blondie, being older and ON for the last two years I also have tried many different combinations and the most effective routine for me, health & cost wise, turns out to be exactly what your endo is considering: Progynon Depot IM (Estradiol Valerate in peanut oil) combined with Calutide (Bicalutamide), a catch all "no-binder" with no DHT inhibitors needed! I have also continued to take a low dose of Spironolactone primarily for it's blood pressure & diruetic benefits.

Cost (based on price paid and dosingy and, being heavy on the estradiol, am still slowly cutting back. Unlike with Cypro as of right now my "performance" has improved with functional "output" @ absolute nil, being married & pre-op the best one can expect?

A lot seem to do thigh IM's, not sure why, ask endo best area on buttocks, a contortion trick one acquires but with no blood leaks or soreness later.  ;)

Thanks for the info Kiera. I would also like help in where I can get both Spironolactone (which is not easy to get in the U.K) and Progynon Depot IM (Estradiol Valerate in peanut oil) combined with Calutide (Bicalutamide). So far it's not available on prescription in the U.K as far as I am aware but my endo has other U.K patients who are on it.

I have been on cypretone acitate (androcur) for years and it doesn't have much effect. The same with Evorel, premarin, and ethinyoestrodial tablets..

Sounds good, can I ask where you are getting your injectables from in the U.K?

Ethinyl Estradiol is one of the worst most high risk forms of E you can take in addition to Premarin. Any form of EV is safer IM being the safest. My doc doesn't think IM is neccessary either but if clotting factors go up would be glad to prescribe it.

Ms Delgado lol seeing how I'm not working right now (have an interview today) if I can come visit the UK & you . .

I'll show ya how it's accomplished!  ;D

Lol
If you could do that Kiera i'll gladly cook for you for the duration of your stay :P

Hey good luck with the job interview.

No IM isnt neccesary, hrt existed before then but me and my endo like the constant dosage it provides. As i said they all work just at different timeframes and dosages. It more about finding what works best for you.

For me it was oral estradiol (estrofem) and Spiro for 9 mths. then I switched from oral to estradiol
valerate inj. and added dutas. and am happy with the switch, not that I wasn't with the orals,
I just got tired of the sublingual route everyday.

also may I suggest looking into compounding pharmacies if your having trouble locating what
your looking for in the U.K....just a thought, I am not too familiar with the U.K.

Good Luck!

Ethinyoestrodial is the most effective HRT in tablet form for me so far and it seems to be the only one that has any effect on me since starting full time on HRT in 2000. It's difficult for me as the U.K is limited as to what is available and injectables as far as I know are not licenced within the NHS regulations.

However, Delestrogen injections is what I want to try and need to find a source as to where it can be accessed? It's not licenced in the U.K so I can't get it through the NHS resources. Any info would be very helpful to me.

I'm in the US and I can't seem to find it either.  None of the pharmacies around me carry it or are willing to order it for me and the only online places I have seen it, it's like way expensive.

Discuss it with your doctor or Endo and if your willing to pay get them to write out and send a script to a compounding pharmacy, It works out very cheap. I use a rather well known one in the states but im not sure if im allowed to mention it, they are script only though so your medical team will have to contact them.

I'm treated privately in the u.k so i really dont know what the restrictions on the NHS are but if you get your point over i cant see why you cant.

I'm lost for links and contacts, but have no preference between NHS or private, all I need is a source as to where the product can be purchased. I went over the net for hours last night and couldn't find a contact address. Any information would be very helpful.

I've been on Estrofem and Spirotone since last April and saw no harmful side effects. Other than taking them everyday, I see no problem at all.

Me (I started last Sept. but at lower doses, and actutally started on one of the ones that are unmentionable here - but switched):

estradiol, progesterone, cyproterone

I found that my body responded really quickly with hair softening, pubic pattern, and density all becoming more feminine.  Also a quick response in breast development, which is the best part.  I'm really happy so far.

I did bloodwork a few weeks ago and my testosterone level is very low, estrogen a wee bit high.
So it seems to be having an all positive effect for me.  I've noticed being tired and maybe a bit of spaced out feeling, (but that's easily just me too)

good luck
B.

NicholeW.

Gals, if you're gonna have a thread about hormones and usage please do recall all site rules, particularly those that demand that dosages and all information that might assist in someone doing it themselves (DIY) be left out of the post.

Thanks so very much.
