;D
Anyone else feel like their first session was a blur?

I was shaking by the time I got to the office, not helped by barely getting there on time (despite giving myself lots of extra time). It wasn't quite what I expected to be honest, but not in a bad way.

I would not say a weight was lifted, but I do feel better.

Leslie Ann that is brilliant news and I know what your saying about it being a blur mine seemed like that also.

The feeling is almost indescribable..

Nope, I remember most of my first session!

Mostly I recall the nervousness that seemed overwhelming before I saw her and that seemed far less present after it was over!

:)  Congrats, Leslie. :icon_hug:

I also just had my first session. I keep remembering things he said that were important like its all coming back to me through a fog.
Great for you, Congratulations!

Nervousness and fog, sounds about right.  ;D

Now that I have had time to think about it, we did cover a lot of basics, most of which I had a pretty good grasp on. I am glad it's over though, that was a tough first step.

Biggest thing I got so far is the confidence that I can do this. I can see how an experienced therapist can make this all so much easier to accomplish. I don't see her so much as  a gatekeeper, more of a guide, maybe if others saw it that way the would be less scared.

I'm much happier about it today after time to reflect if you can't tell.  :)

Congrats, the first session is such a big deal, but after we wonder what the big fuss was about. My first session was also kinda like a blur, i was a little nervous getting there and meeting my therapist for the first time, the session went pretty much how i thought it would. After i did have the great weight lifted off my shoulders. I really look forward to going to my sessions, he's like talking to an old friend and my sessions are really enjoyable.

Paula.

Hi Leslie Ann, I am pleased you are now happy with how the session went. ;)

I had a similar problem with getting to my first session, and was 10 minutes late due to someone pulling the emergency lever on my tube train. I ran to the clinic, said hello, and like you say, the rest was a blur. ::)

I've had 3 sessions now, and although I'm getting a better understanding of what the weight is, I have yet to lift it... :-\

I was almost late as well.

I left 20-30 minutes early (for an hour drive), then had to find parking (mass panic on top of panic) then realized I forgot the office number. I walked in almost to the second, she however was a few minutes behind so it worked out (last client was late I think).

There have been very few times in my life I was that nervous.

Congratulations Leslie!  Regardless of what you recall or don't recall, it's an important step in your transition.  I hope your sessions go well.

I hope you don't think you can get away with a short statement like that here, without being asked ! ;D
