I have been trying to think of ways to save up money to go see a gender therapist.  I've been trying to save $$$ myself but it is such a slow process, and I feel I can't wait any longer.  I am taking 24 credit hours in college so it doesn't leave a lot of time to work.  I hate asking people for money because I'm not the type to depend on people.  I finally thought I would give in.  I asked some people in my family and some close friends who are supportive of me if they could start a money jar for me.  Every week for 5 weeks put $5 in the jar, if they dont have it one week then don't contribute to it, but anything is a help.  I found out today that I already have a few people who started doing this for me.  So in about a month I should have enough money to start seeing a therapist. I'm super stoked, there aren't even enough words to descibe.  Besides that I just told one of my really good friends that I have know for about 5 years that I was going to transition and she was super supportive of it. Today has been a good day....

Wow.  That's awesome.  I know every show of support is really important to anyone, however going through these experiences that are often accompanied by rejection, I think we value them even more.

Congratulations.  Good luck with therapy.  I know my therapist has been great.

It sucks that therapist costs are so *&%*$% expensive. I was lucky enough to still be under my parents insurance when I was younger to see one. Unfortunately I turned 18 and wasn't in school, so it was cut. And after seeing the endo once for $250, and needing to go back a few times before starting T, it got to expensive for my dad, being my parents had just went through a divorce. I sat on my papers, saying I was ready for T for almost 6 years. Moved out to Cali, and all it took was one freaking visit to a clinic to have my prescription. I understand the procedures and "guidlines" therapists and clinics have to follow, but it sucks a lot of states require so much.
On the topic of your family putting together a jar, is awesome. I've watched a couple of videos of yours on YouTube, and you remind me a lot of myself a few years ago. I'm not sure of your age, but if you're under 25, and in school, you could still be on your parents insurance? Which means you could get help with therapy..

Another solution would be to cut back on the college hours and find yourself a second job bud.

I'm still under 25 but i'm not on their insurance anymore, their plan kicked me off when I turned 21.  I do have insurance through my school, But I haven't been able to find a phychiatrist that is on my plan. Everyone I have called has either specialized in certain things or aren't excepting new patients. I did find an endo on my plan that I can go to though, so when I get that far at least I have his info.
Hit me up on my youtube page sometime, I love meeting new people. And if and if I remind you or yourself I'm sure you're cool as hell lol

I would love to be able to cut back on hours, but i really need to get out of school.  I should be able to graduate in the fall at the rate I'm going.  I want to be able to get out as soon as possible so I can get a good job and start saving up $$$ for surgery and to move to Cali.  I'm stuck in Ohio and it isn't a place to be if you're trans.  Trust me I've considered this many times lol
