So! Tuesday Landon has an appointment to go back on testosterone. I'm so excited for him, yet nervous at the same time. I'm so worried that the doctor for this or that reason won't put him on it. And I won't know until Friday what the verdict is, cuz he's going home for a few days and won't be able to call me (no long distance at his mom's). :'(

::hugs:: It'll be fine. :) Can you think of any real reason why he couldn't be put on T?

Well, he was on it before, but his doctor took him off and said he needed to go to a therapist before he'd put him back on it, but from what we've gathered, he shouldn't have to be in therapy to be on T. So here's to crossing fingers.

Depends where you are. A lot of doctors will require a note from a therapist saying it is ok.

He could always go see a therapist worst comes to worst...

The problem with a therapist is the money. The T and everything would be covered by Canadian medical(he's in Ontario), but dental/vision/mental aren't. I'm already paying for most of our wedding expenses because he's having a hard time saving up anything living with his brother, otherwise I'd help him, if he'd let me. But what he found poking around was that he shouldn't need one for T. Here's to hoping.

Well, it would figure I wasn't nervous about the RIGHT thing. His ride never woke up. So, guess who didn't make it to his appointment? *sigh*

Well... at least he can reschedule right? Silver Lining

Yeah, he just has to find a better ride this time around. Or save up the money for the bus back home...

That would probably be a good idea.

Actually, OHIP covers the therapy if you find the right therapist. The only issue with that is there might be a big waiting list.
Don't be scared to fly alone, find a path that is your own
Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours
Don't hold back and always know, all the answers will unfold
What are you waiting for, spread your wings and soar

Hey, thanks Monty! I'll let him know :) Do you know where I could find a list of therapists covered by OHIP?

That's a bit hard to say without knowing where he resides currently.

The Sherbourne Health Centre in Toronto is one, but you have to be a resident of Toronto or they'll deny you. The best way to find out is to ask your family doctor if they know anyone. I'm currently going to see a therapist in May in my city who has had some experience with GID patients, but he also does general therapy as well. So sometimes you can luck out that way.

The rule of thumb in Ontario is that a private practising doctor will make you charge up front, but public ones take OHIP. And once again, the issue with that is you might catch the doctor when he's bogged down with patients and you might have to wait a couple of months. The last time I checked with Sherbourne(before I was denied.) it was an 6 month-year wait. My other doctor was contacted in February and I got a date in May. If someone cancels, of course, it could be sooner but it depends on the doctor's circumstances as well.

You don't necessarily need a GID therapist, but it would be much smoother to grab someone who is experienced.

Yeah. He lives in Peterborough, but his doctor is in.... Orillia or Brechin, I don't remember. I'll tell him to ask into it when he gets his appointment rescheduled, or maybe look into it online. (Or I will since he never "knows what to search" lol)

Thanks again, Monty!
