I'm in a gym class where we have to change. When I'm in the locker room this one girl stares at me with this death-stare. Everyone at my school is either a girly preppy girl or a jock. Everyone expects me to be the girly girl just because I have a girls body. A few of these girls just really hate me. I don't know what to do...

I remember gym class, the locker room was pure hell for me, reminds me of the gym locker room now, which I avoid at all costs. I use the stare straight ahead get in get out method, also used this in high school. I would change and get out without looking at anyone and keeping to myself. If I was really uncomfortable, when I had to take swimming, I wold use the bathroom stall to change in, small and cramped but I made it work. While this isn't optimal it lessened the pain.

Ignore those jerks. They're not worth dealing with if they don't like you for some reason. When I was in gym class, I just wore my gym shorts and a tanktop under my regular clothes, then put my clothes back on over it. I'd suggest that, if you're not comfortable stripping in front of people.

For me, it's not an issue anymore because I'm out and am good friends with most of the people in there, so the locker room is a safe zone, and I haven't switched to guys because I only have a couple more months, and I doubt I'd be accepted in the guys. But before, I just did the getingetout method. Nothing much else you can do if you are in the closet and aren't friends with most of the people in there.

When I was in middle school (which, granted, was a VERY long time ago), I always changed in a bathroom stall. I was horribly self-conscious, and you couldn't have paid me enough to change around all the girls in the locker room. Of course, being attracted to chicks, being in the locker room did have its perks....

In high school, I perfected a way of changing from one shirt to the other without exposing any part of my torso. Guess it was always my chest that bothered me, because I had no problem changing pants in front of other people.

Locker rooms suck incredibly much, but you get through it, even if it seems like you never will. Just try to do your best to remain as comfortable as possible through it.

ahh i feel ya buddy in my old high school not only did we have gym but we had pool lol failed pool horribly but the gym teacher i had was pretty cool and she just let me change in the bathroom instead of the locker room maybe you could talk to your gym teacher about using her office (i've heard of that happening lol) or the bathroom you wouldn't really need to say anything about your gender unless you feel comfortable enough to do so all i told mine was i felt uncomfortable and awkward and she was cool about it lol just a suggestion of course ^_^

Ack, I remember those days.

I wish I had just effed off down the arcade like the chavs did every time PE rolled around.

If you can get a toilet stall, that's fine. Arrive early or late.

I'm just thankful we were never expected to shower together. That's just... wrong.

I went to a sports college =[ we had P.E at least once a day

on fridays we had double P.E in the morning and then another class last period

I never went to school on a friday

I had tons of time off trying to avoid P.E, my final attendance record was 40%

In my final year I managed to get a note from the school shrink excusing me from changing in front of other people because I'm covered in self harm scars, I was also the only person allowed to wear tracksuit bottoms and a long sleeved shirt. The uniform was strict shorts and t-shirt with the school logo's on.

I also had a horrible horrible experience the first time I went to a swimming class with the school. I got changed into my swim suit, which I found traumatic enough, and after the lesson I went to get changed. My mum had put a glass bottle of coca cola in my gym bag that I wasn't aware of and it had broken. My clothes were covered in coke and broken glass. I had to go back to school on the bus in my swim suit and my mum picked me up straight after. I cried the whole way and never went back to a swimming lesson - and this is why I can't swim to this day.

I know how you feel. Starting my 9th grade year I always wore boxers instead of female underwear. When changing in the locker room people starred because I had male bottoms on. It was horrible enough for a chunky person changing in front of people led alone them starring because of what I was wearing. Eventually I said screw it just failed gym because it didnt count towards our GPAs.

I would have to agree with the comment to talk to you teacher. If you dont want to mention why you really feel uncomfortable come up with another reason.

I agree, if you can get a bathroom stall, do it. At my school you're not allowed to change in the bathroom. And talk to your teacher as well. You don't have to tell them about the trans stuff, but make sure they understand how traumatizing it is for you.

Cool thing happened today. The guys picked me to play on the guy's team. We were playing baseball and I hit 3 homeruns. I think they respect me more now. =-)

Aww! Congratulations! that's great news :D I bet you did earn respect with them as much as it seems like a stereotype athletic ability does seem to be a good way of earning respect with "younger" males lol ^_^
