ok, i know that in order to get on T you have to see an Endo. But exactly how do i get to the endo? I mean do i have to go through a GP and get them to refer me to an endo? or do i just schedule an appointment with the endo? i've decided to start getting the medical process started so i figure this is the first step, right?

Generally, you need a referral from a counselor.  Although the standards of care have changed, most doctors or endo's still require this.  Do a search for trans friendly doctors in your area and check with them.

I have read on other forums about a consent clinic in Atlanta? Other than that the only way I know is through a therapist, they write you a letter and you take that to the endo or whoever you are going to get the T through. That is just my experience, I am sure there are others who have done it differently.

You don't need an endo.  general practitioners can prescribe testosterone.

If you want an endo, you generally need to ask your GP for a referral.

i've had a couple clients come through who started at this clinic.  They seem to prescribe a 2x normal dose for all the guys with no followup bloodwork.  i'm all for informed consent and believe the SOC should be thrown out altogether, but only by practitioners that know what they're doing.

If I were headed into that clinic to start, I'd print out a copy of Nick Gorton's book 'Medical Therapy and Health Maintenance for Transgender Men,' (It's a free PDF download- just google it) read it, and bring it to my appointment.  That way you can ask questions with medical text in hand and be an informed advocate in your healthcare.

I agree that you should find someone who has your best interest in mind. I ended up choosing a naturopathic doctor (allowed to prescribe T in Oregon)  who a lot of the guys in Portland use. My other choice was an MD (Becker) but well lets just say she is not as well respected here as she used to be. Remember you want someone looking out for your whole medical well being, not someone who can write the script the fastest.
