SANTA CRUZ -- The California Supreme Court announced Friday it will render its ruling on the constitutionality of Proposition 8 on Tuesday, leaving the long holiday weekend for many to speculate about the future of the same-sex marriage battle and the legality of 18,000 unions made last year.

But real estate agent Bryan MacKenzie and his partner of 17 years, handyman Frank Ives, won't have a problem filling their time until the news comes out.

"We have triplets, and a new puppy," MacKenzie, 41, said, followed by a big chuckle. "We've waited quite a while already. It's not like a few more days is going to be that difficult."
