hey all, so I went out and spent all this money on emla, I really haven't been able to see how it works. I'm seem to apply it all wrong, and I end up feeling the excrutiating torture that is electro (I have even been avoiding it because I dread it so much)....

I usually put it on the my upper lip and my chin because they hurt the worst for me, usually about 1 hour before my session. I don't use the plastic dressing because I would think that that's more for IV's and stuff, and I don't want to suffocate myself....

Does it need to be covered somehow to be most effective? Also, the needle goes in so deep that I need to put on a crapload of emla on the area, but how thick should it be?

Thank you!

I tried Emla too, and in my experience the best way to use it is to change it into a different drug, something similar to vicodin, put it in pill form, and swallow several of them about a half hour before your session. Vicodin isn't too horribly difficult to come by since your'e not asking the doctor for a huge bottle, and it is less expensive than that creme too. I've got about $60 worth of it left, and I actually used some the other day to dig a sliver out of the meaty part of my hand, and even that wasn't completely comfortable. That's just been my experience with it though, I had a friend who swore by it but she applied it just like you described, so mybe it varies by person.

You need to cover it.Gladwrap will do. Give it 45min b4 your session. The tech will take it off as your session progresses

Prescription pain killers, like Motrin? thats what I use for headaches/toothaches. How long b4 my session should I use them?
