Well that's a very old propaganda trick, in order to 'be fair' bring in someone from the other side. In order to win, make sure that person is sure to alienate more people then they convert, or is harsh and strident, or shrill, or aggrandizing. Think Al Shapton here. Or, the way the corporate media can have on an extreme right winger, like say, George Will, who comes across as thoughtful, reasonable person and book some wild eyed, unkempt clown to 'speak for the left.' It's done all the time. There is a reason that you don't see Norm Chompsky or Amy Goodman on TV speaking for the left - they are too reasonable. They might win.
See I dare say that the 'average' listener to this program - in radio land called 'a morning zoo' - was not offend (any more than the rest of it offends them) by this, and now is in a position to resent the interruption of their morning routine in the commute car. How many of them are going to listen to any thoughtful presentation on their Thursday commute vs. how many are going to resent getting some 'PC Crap' thrown in their face? And this is Sacramento we're talking about here, not SF.
If I wanted students to be happy to listen to a lecture on something, I'd cancel the math test for the assembly, if I wanted them to hate it, I'd cancel recess. And this is a very precious time for most people who listen to this drek. It's their own 'special time' in the car, by themselves. They are going to hate it.
And, radio is a lot harder than it looks (yes, that a pun), and its very easy to come off as being harsh, strident, shrill, condescending and all the rest if you don't know what you're doing.
Best of luck, but since I've never listened to that station in the past, I doubt if I'm going to tune in Thursday.
