Alright! so I heard about these injections you can get every 4 months(I dunno if anyone already posted anything about them already cause I suck and forgot what it's called lol) I was just wondering if anyone knows if it raises your estrogen or not. I'd ask my doc but it's gonna be awhile before I can get in.

I think anovulatories kill it without raising your estrogen levels (but im not sure)

Jeatyn

The injection I know of is depo-provera. It's progesterone only.

I was forced to come off this because it can affect your bone density if you're on it for a long time (5 years I was on it)

It also messed up my fertility and caused me to gain a lot of weight when my lifestyle hadn't changed at all. (around 50lbs gain, it was horrible, gone now, still no change in lifestyle)

When I came off it I bled for 2 months solid and thought I was going to lose my mind.

I can't recommend it really. It's AWESOME while you're on it, no periods, and so convenient to get. But there's madness going on in the background that's hard to fix.

I agree with Jeatyn. They mess you up. I used to have the injection, but the docs took me off it. So i went with the stick in the arm that stays there for 3yrs, they do the same job. They're not 100% effective and i still get the *********, not as often, but they're mean and long when i do. But i wouldn't go back without the aid because i'd rather pay that price just to be without them for 4-6 months.

The choice is yours.

Can't speak for the injection, but I tried cycling ortho-cyclene 3 months on, one week off.  It really wasn't worth the hassle.  The first month of every cycle I would bleed for 2 weeks straight.   ::)  I'd rather just take the pill the normal way and have a light period for 3 days every month.  But even better is killing it altogether with T.  ;D

I was taken off the pill when i reported migraines on it. The doc never really explained why, just said it was dangerous O_O something about estrogen not liking me... heh i wonder why?

I have been on T for a little over 3 months now and since the dreaded thing finally stopped I have never been happier.  Can't recommend it enough.

I still take the pill, low dose one called yasmine, because I am paranoid about getting pregnant. It makes me more moody than usual, and more unstable, and it may be making my migranes more common or even worse. However, it reduces my periods and it's side effects and so.. I keep taking them for those two reasons.

Can't wait 'till I can get on T and be rid of 'em for good.

Any form of birth control is going to be hormone based.  If the one hormone based side effect you're looking for is your period to stop, why not just go on t?

I had that same effect from Yasmine.  It made me feel as if I was PMSing all month long. >:(  I switched to Ortho and all that went away.  I discovered that my body just couldn't hack low-dose.  :-\

Yes well, I refuse to take anything other than low dose because I don't want to be eating "women's hormones" at all to begin with.
So.. I choose the suffering, consciously. :)

Look, I know it's tempting to pop female hormones to keep the reds under the bed.

Once thing you have to consider the the feminization you body will go through, and what "effects" will result from it long term.

Is it worth it in the long run?
  •

IanToxic

Yeah that's why I was asking about it here but eh yeah not worth it if it's gonna screw up my hormones,bones,and/or the rest of my body lol
