When covering Pride, the media have typically focused on the most outrageous, flamboyant and crazy performers. If we are all "crazy glitter-wearing pixies and tough leather dykes" then our identities are merely stereotypes. That's why I dislike how trans people are being portrayed; it makes no room for people like myself who are different. I challenge queer readers, straight readers or any anything else you may be, to think about whose voices are being heard when you hear about and see Pride this June, and remember that all that glitters isn't gold.
