My dad called me today.  He got me letter about my GID and transition plans...

He said he was surprised but that he wants me to do whatever I need to to be happy!

I'm totally out now.  To everyone.  And nobody has been anything less than supportive.  Most of the guys I've told have been even clamoring to help me pass, telling me they will teach me manly things like drinking beer and playing pool.  I feel really, unbelievably loved.

That is fantastic Mikko......I can't imagine what it must be like to have things go that well.  I am SOOOO happy for you.   ;D

Congratulations Mikko...

One of the hardest parts of transition is coming out to family and friends.... You have done that. I was always amazed by some peoples (positive) reactions.

The real part starts when you get your therapist, start on Testosterone....... not long now.

Learn all those manly things for sure, but just be careful honey around the whole getting drunk culture, despite how supportive male friends can be, they are still men and I would just urge  caution.

Woo hoo!

Mikko, this is the single most hardest thing to do.  I'm so happy for you.

Hey man, trade me parents PLEASE!!!

That's awesome for you. Too bad not everyone can be that understanding.

Thanks, everyone :D  I'm really happy too!  I know it's pretty amazing to be completely supported so I feel sooo lucky.  I would spread it around if I could.

Oh, don't worry, I only drink when my SO and usually my brother are around, and both parents are alcoholic so I'm very cautious not to drink more than once a month, I'm not about to start binging and blacking out o_o  My guy friends just mean I need to learn to not absolutely despise beer (they just tease me because my "man tutors" are not manly men at all)...  Which I don't think I fully agree with, it's not like I'm trying to look straight anyway.  I can keep drinking my mixed drinks, who cares :P

Plus I have seen how icky some men can be firsthand.  Thanks for the warning though, cuz if I didn't have those things in my mind I should, for my own safety.

Heh, I dunno, I generally kind of like them, so...  Try getting your parents the book The Riddle of Gender by Deborah Rudacille...  I've been talking that book up a lot, but I ordered it for both my parents after reading it.  It really does an excellent job explaining that we're not sick, we're perfectly normal with a few extra medical needs.  It's all sciency too so it covers all the hypotheses of the cause very thoroughly and is just plain awesome.  I was pissed when I went to my local library and found only 3 books on ->-bleeped-<- and transsexuality, but man, that one ended up being great :D

That's great Mikko. I had the same from family, friends and work. I wish I could spread it around too, so everyone got the benefit of being fully supported.

My mom called and talked to me again, actually.  She's researching names and trying to help me pick one :D  And my daycare mom, who's still my mom's best friend and who I'm still really close to, wrote me a letter about how proud she is of me and what a beautiful man I will be :)

Wow Mikko. That is great. All positive responses. All the easier transition will be for you then. Good for you ;)

Ah, the first beer as a guy. So magical. I remember mine like a first kiss. ;) (It was also my first beer in general, so...)

You're going to make an awesome guy--you have the right facial structure and everything, and your friends and family support you. I hope everything turns out great!
Lock up yer daughters.
