All you need to know about the 'pop' charts these days is that MJ was number 1-9 last week, on records 30 years old. What makes it to number one now, would not have made it into the top 100 in the 70-80s, (based on sales, which is the only thing that counts.) Heck, they even said this week that illegal downloads are way off over last year, just less to download that's worth listening to.
Look, I don't ask much for a singer, but being on pitch, is pretty much it. The obvious use of Autotune, proves she can't even do that IN A STUDIO, much less live.
I wish her the best, but talent, not technology wins out in the end. As Pink Floyd so wisely noted, you could take a bunch of people and give them all of Pink Floyd's equipment, but that doesn't produce DSOM.
