Transgendered Tattoo's

I recently watched a show on the Sundance channel called "Trans-Generation" and I thought to myself "wow" that's utterly terrific, how we've come so far for there to be an option and a choice for somebody that has felt they were born a different gender than the one their body represents.
However, pertaining to this television show I watched. Their was a female (A young butch named Lucas) going to see the doctor for her first batch (prescription) of hormone injections. And she was accompanied by another person that "was" a female but had already started hormone injections and was further along in the transitioning process. I thought to myself, "Oh, how great that must be to have the positive support from a friend and somebody that obviously knows what your going through" However, as the show progressed on, I started to realize something troublesome. First of all, it was Lukas's very first visit to the doctor and with just that one visit alone convinced (rather easily I presume) the doctor she was indeed ready to become a Man?
