I just got my lab tests back and I am pretty excited!
my free testosterone dropped lately to 0.06 ng/ml!
The problem is, the lab thinks I am a guy (what a silly idea!) and gave me a normal range of 1.2-4.3
Everywhere online I can online fine ranges of pg/mL.
What is the capital L?
I tried to ask the nurse but she doesn't know and my next meeting with the endo is 2 months away.

Anyone knows what are the normal female range for free testosterone in ng/ml values?
Thanks! :)

Oh! they also wrote in comments something like:
"0.06 L*
at least 5 ml are needed"

Does it mean it is 0.06 L instead of the usual ml? although I am so not sure!

the capital L is for Litres (so there's no way to confuse it with the number 1 in handwriting)

and the numbers (my copy of the merck manual doesn't have free T levels)
Free Testosterone
Male 9-30 ng/dl
Female 0.3-1.9 ng/dl

I wonder why they wrote L* though, at the comments.

anyways, so my levels are 6 ng/dl according to this? I might not be converting it properly, from 0.06 ng/ml though

It doesn't make much sense because then it means I would be only 3 points below male level but in my chart male level of ng/ml is 1.2 low and 4.3 high which puts me about 100 times below male levels.. I am confused!

oh duhhhhh
i think it means "low"  :eusa_wall:
(my blood test results have the same letter L next to them)

You are right! I just noticed H* next to my prolactin :)

I am still confused about converting the values!
if I convert it properly from 0.06 ng/ml to ng/dl and the result is indeed 6, then according to your char I am only 3 points below male.

Yet according to my char, male is 1.2 - 4.3 so 0.06 is quite a lot lower than 3 points, if measued with ng/ml..

Something is wrong!
