I have developed a severe sensitivity to light.  I live in an area where the air is thin and we usually have many very bright, sunny days, so this is really a problem for me.

Three things happened about the time I developed the sensitivity:
1) I started using an eye cream (Avon),
2) I started wearing eye makeup (MAC), and
3) I started on hormones (estrogen and an androgen-blocker).

I have blue eyes that have always been sensitive to light, but this is debilitating.

Has anyone else had markedly increased light sensitivity because of the hormones?

I think you mean in the eyes?

I dont know. But...

Because with how my skin changed with HRT. I have problems standing on the sunlight. My arms get itchy.

Oops, sorry.  I meant that my eyes can get very sensitive to light.  The ophthamologist said they are inflammed - not just the surface but deep through.  He gave me presecripton drops to reduce the inflammation, and I'll stop using the eye cream and hope that's the culprit.

*still blinky*

Among other things that it does, estrogen will dry your skin.  Drink lots of water to hydrate from within and use creams and lotions to moisturize from whithout. ;)

Kate:

I can't say that I noticed more light sensitivity as a function of HRT.  I did however start making a point of wearing sunglasses anytime the sun was out.  And now I do feel light sensitive if I don't have my sunglasses on.  I haven't noticed any inflammation, though.

I also started taking much better care of my skin.  Mostly on my face, but body as well.
