Gender identity and basic rights

Controversy has been brewing for the past several years over the rights of transgender people to use certain restrooms and other facilities.

While we know the issue is uncomfortable for many, it's also an issue of basic rights.

It's difficult for the average person to understand the personal pain experienced by transgender people who are just trying to get along. We think the Colorado Civil Rights Commission is going in the right direction in its efforts to write rules extending non-discrimination protections based on sexual orientation.

Agree with the sentiment but the author needs to learn a bit first.

"Gender orientation is a very personal matter, one that gets to the core of who someone is. People who transition from one gender identity to another put this very intimate and difficult matter out for the world to see"

Orientation = core of who someone is?

transition from one gender identity to another?
