There's something that has alwayse bugged me, that little M/F check-box on so many forms. Every year at tax time (or when filling out most paperwork) i winge something chronic about it, and no one else sees my point. It goes something along the lines of "How is it any of their (string of obscenties) business! what on earth do my (genitals/chromosones/internal organs) have to do with my(tax/bank-account/e-mail-account/warraty on my new printer)"... it annoys me, i have a very distinctively genderred body, so anyone who meets me can probably tell my gender, but i think it's something only my partner and doctor need to know, i shouldn't have to tell anyone else, i don't think it should be relevant to anyone else.
I guess if it was somewhere deep on the paper work near something relevant, like if my work want to know whether i'm likely to want maternity leave, or are doing a survey to find out whether they need more male or female bathrooms, but why does it have to be right at the top of the form next to name? why does it have to be such a huge part of identity?
