I heard Dutasteride like Finasteride triggers SPEECH problems. I earn a living with my communications skill and I wanna try this but I'm hesitant.

For those taking Dutasteride

1. Did you really develop that speech problem?

2. Did you start developing testicular pain?

  •

Steffi

1. No
2. No

Dutasteride worked like a charm for a while, then my T levels climbed again   >:(
- I had no problems with it at all and nor did I find reference to any such problems as you mention when I researched it myself - where did you hear that from?
To those who understand, I extend my hand
To the doubtful I demand, take me as I am
Not under your command, I know where I stand
I won't change to fix your plan, Take me as I am (Dreamtheatre - As I Am)
I started out with nothing..... and I still have most of it left.

1. no
2. no

So far nothing but good effects from it.

Hi Shellina,

Please can you ellaborate about your findings on Dutasteride.

Does this mean that Dutasteride can effects the feminine voice?

Please let me know.

I am new here and you can find me on the Intersexed site.

Thankyou.

There was actually a long post here about it, I found it too when I was reading up on the stuff and decided it sounded like one of those one in two million things. Bald guys are breaking the pills open and rubbing the juice on their heads, it can't be that hazardous.

I've been taking Avodart for 6 months.

No.
No.

Autumn

I've been taking dutasteride for 19 months.

My speech only slurs when I'm exhausted.
No testicle pain.

Oh not at all sweetie, it does not change your voice into feminine voice and neither does any hormone change voice. It changes speech in the sense I think the person can't complete their phrase when talking, stutters or something like that, not sure though.

Myself

actually, findings show that hormones do indeed change the vocal folds!
but apparently unless you are willing to wait approx 400 years, it's probably not your thing :D
  •

Steffi

I'm 400 years old already........ what's another 400........  ;D

HI Shellina,

My voice is already female as I was born intersexed and with my intersexuality I remained with a female vocal voice although I have had more than my fair share of other problemas. My concern to this is can Dutasteride cause the voice to lower or become harsh like so unfeminine? If you happen to know anything on this it would be so helpful to know.

Thankyou so much.

Nicki.

Hi Amy M,

My name is Nicki and I originate from the Favelas in Brasil, it is nice to make contact with you, so I say Bom dia, todo bem? 'Good day how are you?'

You say you have been on Dutasteride fo 6 months. Please may I know what is the reasoning for taking Dutasteride? and has it helped or not made any difference?

Obrigada.

Nicki.

Dutas won't affect your voice nicki, not in the least.
The reports about Dutas and speech change were very rare and most likely not related (considering there are people who are born without those enzymes that dutas attacks, it's a genetic disorder).

The reports were about slurring speech, like you are drunk and can't finish sentences or you "forget" words momentarily when trying to finish a sentence like when you are drunk.

Those reported them, as far as I think I noticed, usually had also depression problem and living in a dream state.
They also had male sexual dysfunction, which led to depression which most likely led to the rest of the symptoms (I had depression causing me dream state for few months in the past).

So most likely there is no risk with that. There is the chance I am wrong, but seems like the FDA didn't bother adding those side-effects either, so they are most probably indeed psychological side effects OF a real side effect (sexual dysfunction most likely)

Olá, and thankyou so much for your help. I feel a bit awkward to address you as 'Myself' so I say thankyou again myself.

I can't understand if you're a mtf or ftm and what you mean by intersex (is it to have both sexes?) but anyway if your problem is that you want to have lower voice and enlongate your vocal cord according to what 'Myself' told in another thread when you take Testosterone your vocal cord elongates and your voice becomes like a male.
