Hn. I know, 'not another binder thread!'. But I have a small dilemma.
According to the sizing chart on Underwork's site, for their Double Front Compression Shirt 997 I'm an XS, right at 31. It came, and needless to say I was disappointed when it looked like it was made for a 6-year-old. Yes, I did stretch the crap out of it, tried getting it on (and literally ripped the skin off the back of both shoulders in the process of trying - $#!t burns like a mofo), to no avail. I also tried pulling it up - again, a joke; the torso of the shirt fit like a comfortable pant-leg around just one of my (massive) thighs. Like hell I'm trying to get that over my (ridiculously ideal-for-childbirth) hips.

It arrived right before I went out of town, so by the time I got the chance to try it on (two days ago) I'd already had it for 18 days; so it's not returnable for another size. I'm going to try purchasing another one, and I'm at a dilemma over ordering a small or a medium. I should order a small, as that's the next size up, but considering how much too small the XS was, I'm understandably a bit concerned. I'll be out of town for nearly three weeks, a week from now, so it's not likely to come before I depart. I don't want to get stuck with (another) undersized binder, but I don't want something inadequately large - I'm finding that after continued wear, my t-kingdom 801 has stretched enough that it takes considerable adjustment for me to feel comfortable wearing it under anything other than a button-down shirt. I don't need another not-bindy-enough-binder.

Opinions? Does anyone by chance own more than one of their sizes of the same cut and can give me an idea of how different their sizes run from oneanother? (or maybe the physical measurements of the size of their binder so I can get an idea as to how much larger they run based on the size).

Also, any ideas as to how I could maybe break this one in a little without actually being able to get it on?

Hey Cody
Have you tried a shirt or a 'skin' under the binder? It really does help. I thought it was a joke when I first got mine too. I too tried to step into it but that was never going to work... But then I tried again and the binder is quite resiliant! I finally did get it over my enormously feminine thighs and hips and eventually after trying with a sports compression top (skin) found it slides on much better now...
Not exactly the answer you were looking for I'm sure but give it a go mate you never know til you try! But I'm sure the other guys here will be along shortly to offer their two cents :D
Cheers mate

I'm around 38 - 40 or so and I have the medium. Just arrived about 3 days ago, actually - so it's their current sizing run.

I can get it on on my own (BUT it's very, very difficult... double jointed FTW). I go over the head, not step in. I'd say it's the right size for me.

That considered, I think you may be better off with the small.

I think underworks may have adjusted their sizes or materials since the old "buy one size smaller than you need" days, given that people have been reporting their sizes to be accurate now.

I'll second what Jay said.  A rash-guard makes getting the shirt on much easier, especially the first couple times.  I got a cheap one in a muscle-shirt style from Walmart.

Regarding sizing - how did you take your measurement?  It usually works best if you measure across the your nipples first, as well as under the flesh-bags around your ribs, then take an average of the two.  My average measurement came out to right between the medium and the large, so I got one of each.  The medium is tight enough that I can really only get it on if I wear a rash guard under it. (Well, I can get it on without the rash guard, but it takes a good 15 minutes of struggling, and I feel sick with exhaustion when I'm done.)  The large is pretty easy to get on, and is very comfortable for all-day wear, but it doesn't bind me well enough for some t-shirts.

I would say if you are 31" you will probably want a small. I'm 40" around the ribcage, and I can wear a medium.

I had a small from them and getting it on was futile and completely impossible. I traded it for a medium with concern as well. If the small was that small how much bigger could the medium be? But, the medium is perfect. IMO there seems to be quite a size difference between each binder size from them. An undershirt does help alot too.

Look into T-Kingdom binders.  They have some that use velcro or zippers so you don't have to kill yourself getting them on.  Also, they're a taiwanese company, so they have sizes that are smaller than underworks.

I'm gonna go see if I can tag one of the undershirts you guys are talking about, and give it another shot. I ordered a small, maybe it'll show before I head out of town again.

just under, around the ribcage, and just around the middle at the nipples. 29" and 32"

Already have one of theirs; just doesn't cut it some days.

Let me put it this way--  binding sucks.  it's not comfortable, it doesn't give ideal results and you'll probably always be uptight that someone else can feel/see them.  you can spend hundreds of dollars on binders or  solve the problem for good by having surgery.

ha ha, I don't much expect it to be comfortable - it's more an issue of searching for something a little better than what I've got.

Wish I had your problem!
I measure in at 28.5" and the XS sizes are too big for me!

I wear Underworks constantly (I have 3 binders I rotate - two Tritops and one Double Front), and I don't see why some guys make such a fuss about them (and other proper binders) being uncomfortable. I think they're quite comfortable - no less so than a tight undershirt, and obviously with much better effects. I have a B-cup size chest, and they work quite well for giving me a "male" (but not cardboard flat) chest. The only thing I find uncomfortable about them is getting into and out of them - once I'm actually in them, they're fine (and I'm wearing a Small - a size below the one the site's guidelines indicate - so it's not that I bought too big a binder).

Oh man, definitely go look at t-kingdom. Their XS would probably work wonders for you.
