Alameda parents file lawsuit over gender curriculum mandate

A group of parents opposed to a controversial anti-bullying curriculum adopted by the Alameda public schools has filed a lawsuit over the district's refusal to excuse their children attending the classes.

The parents are supported by the conservative Pacific Justice Institute which argues for parents on issues involving religious freedom and parental rights.

They oppose the curriculum because, they claim, it indoctrinates young children about the lifestyle and gay, lesbian and transgender families. District officials insist the curriculum was needed to address some of the causes of bullying on school campuses.

One of my comments to this article. (Note, The snark in the below comment is intentional)

"I don't think a gay lifestyle should be taught as being just like any other but I also feel people are entitled to live as they please and not for me to approve or disapprove of."

So, how do you propose to stop the bullying?  We can't have enough yard monitors.

What about special schools for LGBT-associated kids?  Remove them to these special schools and remove the temptation they present to the bullies.  And that way there's no danger that  the normal school children will be taught that being gay is okay.

Of course there would be those who would argue the best thing would be to leave the LGBT-associated kids subject to the bullying so they can learn how bad it is to be LGBT-associated.  This might be just the motivation they need to make just a bit of extra effort to be normal and conforming...

You know, there's one question regarding the "gay lifestyle" that never gets answered...

If it's a lifestyle, and a choice, then why do people choose to live it in a world where they can become beaten up, or worse?
Why to otherwise "good" kids, who love their god-fearing parents, make that choice, knowing that they can become disowned, beaten up, or worse?
People are still being murdered for being Gay. You'd think, if it was a choice, that people would stay away from it.

How do people, who believe it's a lifestyle, rationalize this little glitch in the reasoning?

Not to mention the question.. "So, where did it start? How did the first person learn of it?"
