Tonight Show Makes Tired Transgender Jokes
August 17, 2009 by Jonathan Rosales, GLAAD's Entertainment Media Manager

On last Thursday's episode of The Tonight Show, host Conan O'Brien repeated his "Conan's Tabloid Moment" segment and used the skit to make easy and unfunny jokes at the expense of the transgender community.Tonight Show

"Conan's Tabloid Moment" typically involves O'Brien staging scandalous tabloid photos with the (false) intent of selling them to magazines to make a profit. In Thursdays segment, O'Brien began by posing at a strip club after a few drinks then wondered how to make the situation even more embarrassing for himself. At this point, a neon sign reading "Trannie's" appears and the female strippers slap on fake mustaches.

Joke or not... He wouldn't dare make a joke about Hispanics or African Americans in that nature. He'd be in a heap of legal trouble if he did.

What a dork  :P

That's one way to loose a portion of your viewing audience  :P

Oh well, I rarely watch him anyway. I mostly use the TV as a sedative when I can't sleep :icon_sleep:

He's made jokes about a lot of people, all's fair in comedy, after all, he did give Triumph the Insult Dog his start, LOL.

Funny!!! Triumph & Jennifer Lopez

Got a point there. Conan has been known to push the limits when it comes to comedy. I'm just ultra sensitive this week.

Conan is about as funny as a car wreck on his best days. I could never stand watching him, he's an idiot - I don't care if he did graduate from Harvard.

If the only thing a comedian has going for them is an insulting dog puppet with a French accent...... Maybe he should just stick with that

How does a puppeteer get their own show anyhow  ??? Hmmm  :eusa_think:
The Muppets did rather well

Maybe it's for people who graduated from Harvard.  I never found him very funny - sort of, but not very - but then again I think Neil Hamburger is the best of the best out right now along with Lewis Black.

And I thought that joke was mostly on Conan, as most of them are.

Conan is brilliant.  Best late night host not named Colbert or Stewart IMO.

My fave comics right now are Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman, Zach Galafanikis, Jen Kirkman, and Paul F. Thompkins.

I get Neil Hamburger, but can only take his schtick in doses.  Lewis Black is okayish to goodish.  He's not Hicks, Pryor, or Carlin though.

And getting upset at comedians is a silly thing to do.

He made a bad joke, boo ho. Jokes goes by a simple rule, either its all okay to make fun of or none of it. Comedy is where you drew the line, and then as the Late great George Carlin would do, you cross that line.

Yeah, I think of Lewis Black as doing stand up commentary more than stand up comedy, and for sure, Bill Hicks was one of the best, taken from us far too soon.  Most people never got a chance to dig his stuff, but in the stand-up world his fame lives on.  I don't think there would be a Dennis Leary, or a Bill Maher had Bill Hicks not shown the way - BTW, he was George Carlin's favorite stand-up, and a true stand up at that.

Oh yeah, like all real comdey, its not safe for TV, keep the kids away from it, and its not safe for work, unless you work were I do.

And his classic bit on smoking.
