from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yin_yang
Quote
The concepts of Yin and Yang originate in ancient Chinese philosophy and metaphysics, which describes two primal opposing but complementary forces found in all things in the universe. Yin is the darker element. It is sad, passive, dark, feminine, downward-seeking, and corresponds to the night; Yang is happy, the brighter element. It is active, light, masculine, upward-seeking and corresponds to the day; Yin is often symbolized by water, while Yang is symbolized by fire.

Yin (feminine, dark, passive force) and Yang (masculine, bright, active force) are descriptions of complementary opposites rather than absolutes. Any Yin/Yang dichotomy can be seen as its opposite when viewed from another perspective. The categorisation is seen as one of convenience. Most forces in nature can be seen as having Yin and Yang states, and the two are usually in movement rather than held in absolute stasis.

...

Everything has its opposite—although this is never absolute, only relative. No one thing is completely Yin or completely Yang. Each contains the seed of its opposite.

...
One cannot exist without the other.

...
At a particular stage, Yin can transform into Yang and vice versa.

...
The dots in each serve:
as a reminder that there are always traces of one in the other
as a reminder that absolute extreme side transforms instantly into the opposite

The diagram and philosophies of yin & yang is something that I believe in. I think of it when I think of the interaction of the male and female that is me. Along a spectrum containing some things more masculine or feminine  then others.

Its not a christian belief but a eastern belief.

I believe you definitely have something there Kendra...

The Yin Yang is a very potent symbol, representing not only unity of forces, but moderation in general...

I believe that being an Androgyne also has something to do with Moderation....

Not that any of us choose to be androgyne, but rather we are blessed with natural moderation...

We are able to live our lives not thethered by anything excessively male or female...

A Blue and Pink Yin Yang, to use the popular color symbolism... :)

Nice, I never really thought of those colors. Colors do have great meaning too especially pink and blue.

I like it...a pink and blue Yin and Yang symbol...Great job Nessa!  Now, if I can just get that on a necklace....

Ya put your right foot in.  You put your right foot out.  You put your right foot in and you shake it all about.  You do the Andro-gyney and you turn yourself around.  That's what it's all about.

I did find one amulet with the colors, in addition to the dragon poster above which almost fits. These two are the only two that I have seen so far, that come close. The poster of the dragons is more red and blue. The amulet isnt quite full pink.

I had to order some, so I've got a couple coming all the way from England. I can't wait to start showing it off. First person that asks about it is gonna get an earful of information.

Can't wait!

Being given the gift of two-spirits meant that this individual had the ability to see the world from two perspectives at the same time. This greater vision was a gift to be shared, and as such, Two-spirited beings were revered as leaders, mediators, teachers, artists, seers, and spiritual guides

OK you two (Mia and Marq)...if you went to all the trouble to find the amulet, and even ordered a few, the least you can do is give us the contact info.  This gal's gotta have one too!  (I know, I can be such a b-itch).

I think this comes as close to being a symbol for Androgyne as anything I have seen.  Let's adopt it as the official symbol of Susan's Androgyne group.  Now, all we need to do is come up with a catchy anacronym for the group.  Folks, get those creative juices flowing...we'll take the best ones (as determined by whoever wants to) and vote on it...the winner gets an all-expense paid trip to the free website of their choice.

Yeah I have to admit that I found it because Ken/Kendra gave it to me. Thanks again about that. Buying it though did get me in a bit of trouble. I was telling my wife today that I had went ahead and ordered a pair and she got upset at me because she was going to get it for me for Christmas. She thinks I buy everything I want so no one ever can get me any nice gifts during the holidays. I was able to coax her into accepting that I'll give her a list of stuff I'd like closer to december.

And as far as using it as an official symbol, I think thats a wonderful idea. A catch phrase on the other hand, I wouldn't even know where to start on that challenge.

I ordered a couple yesterday after Ken(dra) gave me the website.  I stated that it was pink and blue.  You may want to check again.

P.S.  Ken/Kendra, if the contraction above bothers you, please accept my appology.

Yes they are out of stock now according to the message. It says they may get more again and to check back later. Probably because a few people from here bought the ones they had.

I had mixed feelings about the site selling out of this wonderful item. First I thought well thats kind of neat that we'd show a strong desire to aquire such an item that we would buy them out of the item. I though did feel bad that I had bought 2 when 1 would probably have sufficed and now I've denied someone else the change to have one because I wanted an extra. With any luck they're going to get another batch for sale soon, I hope.

Feeling semi responsible, I place the link to the actual item so you don't need to look far in case they get more in.
http://www.gothicstyle.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=374 and
this other place that sells large numbers of clothing articles of different styles all with the pink and blue ying yang symbol on them. They also have notebooks, coffee mugs, buttons, and clocks. I know it says gayapparel but it applies better to us!!
Here : http://www.cafepress.com/gayapparel/968074
This could easily be our community symbol. I'll show my wife the page above so she can shop to her hearts content for Christmas gifts for me. A clock, hmm. They even have baby clothing and boxer shorts with the symbol.
Oh and they have some TG stuff too I see.

This site is affiliated with Susans already actually. I just noticed that. Cool, go Susans!

Are you looking for an acronym or a slogan/catch phrase? These are very preliminary but here's a try at each:

ALOFT: Androgynes Living One From Two (weak, but it's not a bad start)

Slogan/catch phrase: I rather like my current sig: "Androgyne by birth, androgynous by choice". I think it sums it up rather well.

I like the first one too. Not bad Casey.

I do not want to get into a whole debate but "androgynous by choice"?

I consider myself to be TG (and androgynous). If I had a choice I would go back to being a simple guy.

Wouldn't life be much easier if we fit into the traditional gender roles?  No worries, no embarrassments, no broken relationships because we feel more comfortable dressing in ladies clothes.

Dang it...I was on a roll until I said that about ladies clothes...got this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach when I thought about not wearing those silky, lacy things and no nail polish.....ARRRGGGGGGH...Why does that idea seem so bad?  Why am I drawn to strongly to this way of living?  Why do I have such a need to express myself this way?

You are right, Alice, I too would go back to being a simple guy.  The only problem is that I wouldn't be who I am today...I'd probably be your stereotypical emotionally-vacant unintuitive male (no offense guys).  Still, it would feel like half of me were missing, but then, would I even know?

I got my Ying/Yang amulets in the mail today. They're really nice. I gave one to my wife and we just kept staring at the amulet on each others neck at Breakfast. I'm sure this is going to open up some nice dialogue with people that stop to comment on them. I can hardly wait.

I plan to ask each person who asks about it what they think it means before I start into what it represents. Fun times.

Well I'm off to bed!
