Well first of all i would like to say hello to everyone as i am new here! My name is Jennifer and im 18 yrs old. im currently in college and studying to be a biology major!

I came out about a week ago to my mom. i was really surprised that she took it so well... i would have expected her to cry but she didnt. Instead she said it was my choice and she supported me in that choice! this made me so happy :D

Also i just got a job and some of my co workers know of this. they said i should tell the managers because they would accept me and it would make things easier. i plan on doing this tommorow so wish me luck!

I'm so glad for you that you have many people supporting you! At first I didn't really have anyone on my side. Now I have tons of close friends who accept me! But sadly. Unlike you, the person who I wish to accept me the most (My mom), doesn't--She says she accepts me but not to the full extent!

Good luck! Also I love your name! ;)
I've had a drink called Bubble Tea before...It's the bombz! =]

Thanx gals!

Sheva, everyone adjusts to these situations at different rates, your mom may take longer but in the end she will come to understand you and that you are still the same child but as a female and who you really are! she will see that now she can get to know you for who you really are. thats the way it is with everyone when they are free to express themselves how they truly are, especially in a relationship as close as one of mother and child, where you are guaranteed to keep learning from each other throughout your life.

^_^

SUCCESS!!! omg i knew working at this job would be great!! i was told by another co-worker that everyone working at our stores was so open minded!
i asked my manager if we could talk in private and then i told her about my situation...i kinda had her playing the guessing game...i always do that maybe as a form of protection?
but when i told her she said that she would accept it and encourage me to do it and when i need time off for that to ask her. i asked her about my hair if i could let it grow and she said i could. i also asked her about my dressing style and she said i could start wearing females clothes to work when i saw it necessary.

im getting my next paycheck on friday so im gonna use that to start therapy! ^____^

Wooohooo!! That is such great news BubbleTea (oh, and welcome to Susan's). I'm glad to hear that everyone has been so open and accepting for you. I agree with Kate that therapy is a best next step, I have found my therapy to be so rewarding so far. I only hope when it is time for me to come clean with my mom, she'll be as open and accepting as yours. Thank you for giving me a smile today.  :icon_hug:

Congrats on your accepting mom, friends and job, and yes the next step is a therapist, then i would start working on your voice if you have not, then once you get some money start electrolysis both take quite a long time.

lol start a rave in hereee! :P

staying positive has definately helped, i have my mom to thank for that. growing up she always told me never to look at the bad side of things, she taught me that being happy was a choice and it is the choice i am making now!
ofcourse another thing that keeps me going is the postive people around me and the support from people who know where im coming from and these people are in this forum ^_^.

You've got support from your mother, your workplace accepts you as you are, and you're staring transition at only 18... You're going to do extremely well !
