the other day a new friend and i were talking about passing. we both agreed that pheremones must play a major part in it. this then got me wondering if replacing testosterone with estragen would also cause the glands that produce the pheremones to "switch".

is this even possible and if so how long do you think it takes for the switch to occur?

would we need to "discard" the testicles for this to happen?

i have noticed lately that i am "perceived" female more often, even though i don't feel as though i "look" that much different. so this has wondering if my pheremones are changing.

any thoughts on this subject?

Pheremones are controlled by neurotransmitters and maybe it is a state of mind. In many species it is control by the estrus cycle. Possibly you are a HOT Babe. Please don't take that as a negative comment.

This is an interesting topic.  I read somewhere that if you are MTF and lower testosterone and increase estrogen that pheromones can change.  This includes the ones you emit as well as how you interpret the ones you receive.  And your brain may respond accordingly!

It is much in doubt that humans even have pheromones.
If they do, they most likely be controlled by hormones, no genes and not physical organs.
Human are more attracted by smell rather than pheromones (which again might not exist in humans), notice how your smell changed with estrogen?

I smell nice and fresh and no longer have that funky man smell on me. Even after sweating!  And I notice a new smell on males but am not sure what it is.  It is kind of hard to explain.

It has been found that heterosexual women and gay men are attracted to male sweat. I find nothing attractive about the locker room stench.

It has been documented that human beings do produce pheromones, it's just that we do so in small amounts and we do so much cleaning (daily showers) that there's very little pheromones on when we leave the house in the morning.

This topic has me doing a little searching around. This is a very interesting find!
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Transgender-Transsexual-3554/2008/4/f/Pheromones.htm

This answer is partially incorrect. If one simply identifies as transgender, or cross dresses, there is no change in pheremones. But pheremones _do_ change with hormone adminstration, and are perceived by both humans and animals as appropriate for one's current gender.

It is common for pets to need time to get used to this in particular, and cats may spray to mark territory around an FTM starting hormones. Sexual partners also can often tell the difference.

The first few days I started estrogen, my cat suddenly fell in love with me!
She was always in love with me but she suddenly fell in love even more.
I was convinced it's the smell (still might) but now that link says it might be the article.

I also noticed my new smell which is why I thought it was that and not pheromones.

This is one of the things I worry about a little bit because right now, pre T, my partner will nuzzle at my neck and do that guttural little grunt that we all know what means.. I don't know what T'll do to that.

As a side note, I know genetic woman who follow the ancient ways.  If they are trying to entice a male and they know that they will be in close proximity, then they do this.  They rub their vagina, develope excretions, and transfer to pulse points (wrists, neck, decolletage.)  They claim it works very well.

I saw a discovery channel special about how when straight men are exposed to the chemical combination that makes up vaginal secretions, even such a subtle amount that they can't tell they're inhaling the scent, they start to find every woman attractive. No kidding, really.

I think I smell different now, I tried to ask my FWB but she was exhausted at the time. She's also expressed confusion because she's sexually attracted to me, thinks I'm very hot, but when it comes down to it she says she doesn't want sex with me anymore. "Something is missing" she said. We did end up getting intimate after a long conversation, but she still didn't want penetration, so we did things sapphic style. I'm wondering if it isn't because of the HRT. *shrug* She likes the boobs though.

Well I knew there was something long before I ever heard of pheromones, like the early 1970's when I was young and wild. If I was feeling particularly wild, I seemed to attract guys like flies and they were just as persistent. If I wasn't, I didn't get much attention. I thought "How do they know???" and finally decided it must be some kind of natural scent.

Did someone say you could buy it in a bottle now?  :o

Yes I think pheromones are a big factor. I'm on T and I have a man smell now, my pal Mark says I smell like a guy now, and well, I find that to me my smell is "utilitarian" instead of "Mmmm girl smell".

Read that to mean I'm a stinky guy now, but I like it.

Not sure if it's the same thing, but indeed since the beginning of my HRT a year ago, I'm sweating a lot less and I smell much different (actually I've got a typical female scent now).

Yep, I doubt it's "really" pheromones, but I still consider getting some if it could help keep my relationship going.

I've heard of that too, and it'd work on me.
