An interesting show, as I've never seen how kids react to this before. They were generally pretty cool with it overall - until it came time to actually *meet* Bill as Barbara - then the two older girls got scared. The youngest girl was adorable though, she didn't care one bit, and just hoped Barabra would play Barbie dolls with her, lol. After the initial awkardness, they were OK with it though.
It was cute to watch kid's minds work though. They didn't have any moral baggage and prejudice to work through - they were just trying to understand what the actual changes were, and asking surprisingly appropriate questions for little kids.
The parents were very cool about it. They pointed out that Bill/Barbara allowed everyone to keep a sense of humour about what was happening, which they feel is what made it much less uncomfortable and easy to talk about.
We only saw Barbara at the very end. Now granted, she was probably early on in her transition, AND she had cameras on her, AND was trying to deal with an uncomfortable situation, but she seemed awkward and uncomfortable as Barbara somehow. I kept wondering if this is the future I'm creating for myself... will people see me the way I saw her?
