Time to move, I need advice

I live in WNY (Buffalo area) and it's quite trans friendly, at least from my experience. I live in a suburb with my genderqueer partner and we have no problems.

And I was beginning to think I was the only Upstater on this site...

The northeast is pretty accepting in most areas, much like the Pacific NW I would imagine.  While it is somewhat conservative in some places, it's a live and let live environment.  VT is really nice, and I plan on moving there eventually.  They have state laws specifically protecting people on the basis of gender identity and gender expression, in all aspects of life.

We will need to have Janet and Heather show us around, I live about 5 hours east of Portland, so it's quicker to go to Boise for shopping. I wonder, do we actually have to cross into Washington for the superior coffee or does it leak across the border?

We have Seattle's Best and Starbucks on this side.  And then there is Lloyd Center, Clackamas Town Mall and Washington Square to go shopping at.  And then there is always downtown Portland.  A lot of smaller shops downtown.
