Time to move, I need advice

The hormones are doing their job, my body and face are hairless and I am emotionally free of male thoughts. Even in male mode people think I am female. I need to move because I am afraid to go full time where I currently live. I am small and have lost much mussle mass and at 5'7" and 135 lbs I would have a hard tome defending myself if assaulted. I need to move to a safe place for transsexuals. It must be a state where I can change my gender marker on my drivers licence and people are open minded. A small town or a city would be OK as long as I can continue my transition in peace. I will have SRS within a next year. Does anyone have any ideas.

I live in mid WI and do quite fine. You can change your gender marker here with a letter from a therapist.

i'm very intersted in the reccomendations of others, as i too wish to move when i have the $. California is the most ts/tg friendly st. that i'm aware of, although i've heard the cost of living is quit high. whatever you do, by my own expirience DO NOT move to NV or MT! best of wishes, Isabella

I love the Pacific Northwest.  Oregon, Washington to those who might not know.  I live in Portland.  And I have never had any problems.

The West Coast is nice.

I remember when I first moved here, I was such a flatlander. I drove through Astoria and couldn't believe people could stand to live on steep hillsides like that, and driving on them absolutely freaked me out. It was a couple summers ago, I'd left Phoenix and kind of wandered into Oregon and thought I'd stay a while. One day someone was complaining about the heat, I think it was like 90 or something. I was like...lol...quit complaining it's cold.

I don't think there is such a thing. hate knows no boundries.

but as others have said, the pacific northwest seems to be one of the friendliest areas for transgendered folk in the US and has been so for several years. california is probably a close second* to the PNW area.

_{*if that's shocking it's becuase there is a lot more to california than LA and San Fransisco, we basically have kentucky in between those major cities.}

Stay away from the southeast. While I have managed to maintain a good job and get everything changed it has been absolute hell at times.

California is ok,  The SF bay area is fine, except for the spot the ->-bleeped-<- contests.   Yes it's expensive to live here, unless you love living on a boat. The DMV is easy though there is a new form. But it is safe if you can swing a good paying job.  It's pretty much live and let live at least in my neck of the woods.


Anywhere on the left coast is probably good.

I live in WNY (Buffalo area) and it's quite trans friendly, at least from my experience. I live in a suburb with my genderqueer partner and we have no problems.

Vancouver, WA is pretty small, just a little town ya drive through to get to Portland. I think Seattle is great (guess where I live) and I have heard Portland is pretty a close second, though some trans folks say it's even better.

Ok know it's not my forum but must post. I have a friend who lived in Vancouver Wa (I live in Portland). She is a lesbian  (not transgendered) and ended up moving out of Vancouver within a year as the area is so conservative. I helped her move there as well as away. It has a small pocket of accepting people but most of the area is not very accepting. Her though was it was close enough to Portland that she would be accepted, didn't work out that way. For her it was like a whole  other world.

I agree with LordKat. Wisc is fairly open about stuff and our unemployment is lower then most of the other states (about 8.4ish as of september).

But, you'll have to deal with beer drinking, cheese eating Packer Fans and Favre haters (some Favre yet though).

hm... also watch out for the German's... Oktoberfest is just around the corner =/
