Had friends over while I was dressed for the first time

My pastor friend and his wife came over tonight to have dinner with us and just talk to me and my wife about our ongoing conflict with what I'm going through. It went really well and I had warned him that I would be dressed up because my new rule is that I will be dressed up at home no matter who comes over. He said that was good.

Well he and his wife came over and it went well. I was a little nervous at first but very quickly became comfortable when they didn't treat me any differently or give me weird looks or anything. We had good dinner, good talks, played some rockband. It was in general a really good evening and the funny thing is...it just felt....normal. I didn't feel like they treated me any differently which was good, really. His wife gave me a hug at the end, not sure if that was a girlish gesture or just in general empathy for what I was going through.

But anyway, a really good experience. My current avatar was taken shortly after and I finally found a picture I actually like of myself, I think hah.

I'm not particularly religious and I'm not married. But in my house (apt.) I am the girl. I warned my PSR worker (the guy that helps me with my PTSDs etc.) about this.

He has been very respectful and very helpful.

Respect is a trade off. I had enough respect for him and myself to give fair warning.

I can get my girl on and don't feel I have to hide. But I also respect his comfort zone.

A good healthy and respectful friendship has developed from simply being respectful of others and myself.

I've learned so much the past year or so

You do look nice  :icon_chick:

Superficial fanny kissing friends are a dime a dozen, a TRUE FRIEND however is PRICELESS

Oh, Jerica, how wonderful for you! :eusa_clap:  That was a BIG step.

For me, in the beginning I had to insist on people accepting me as Kate.  I had a little bit of attitude about it.  (I still do ::), but it's different now - not so defensive.)  Surprisingly, people were nice to me - as your pastor and his wife were to you - and so I could begin to relax.  Sometimes it's hard to keep from ducking from the expected blow even though no blow comes.  I'm so happy for you that it went so well and you could relax during the evening. :D

It sounds to me like you are easing into this journey of discovering who you are very well.  I hope it continues with few bumps.

And you can come down from floating around the ceiling now, dear. ;D

*hugs*
