This is probably a discussion for the administrators to have and in private, and I apologize in advance if I shouldn't even bring this up.

But what's the thinking behind the blanket ban on information regarding HRT usage information?

Yes, I understand that it's to discourage self-medication, but speaking only for myself, if I didn't think I could get HRT from doctors, that wouldn't stop me.

The information is out there anyway, limiting it just makes it harder to get too, and potentially less accurate, but I don't believe trying to suppress information about how to safely administer HRT makes people any less likely to self-medicate, just more likely to put themselves in danger when they do.

Why not make the information freely available about what medications should be used, in what dosages at what frequencies, so that when people DO self-medicate, it's as safe as possible.

I'm not self-medicating, and won't as long as I believe there's a way to get it through proper channels in a reasonable time frame, and I'd still try to get proper monitoring even if I did, but it is my whole life and the lives of many others out there, if I didn't think I could get hormones through prescription, in all honest, I wouldn't let that stop me.

I just think that suppressing this information only puts people in potentially more danger, not less.

I've been thinking about this for a while, just thought I'd say it, admins if you disapprove of this post, do what you will with it. Let me know if you'd prefer me not to bring it up in the future and I won't.

asfsd, i certainly don't need to speak for Susan as this subject has been addressed many times before but aside from the fact that there many other websites out there that do discuss dosing last time I checked *taking prescription meds without prescription* is still Illegal in most countries and it becomes a *liability* issue pure and simple . . .

I sure wouldn't want to take responsibly for something that - let's say for argument's sake - some *14 yr old's* parent might take high exception to, when you're *messing* with someone else's kids these days yer treading on thin ice indeed!

You and I can always remain "anonymous" but Susan cannot, folks in general are all too often quick to seek blame when something goes wrong so get the picture?

added: just for the record I DIY, have for the past three years and could get a script tomorrow if I wanted to, it's best people make those kind of decisions for themselves without any outside encouragement / interference from others.

The information may be out there already, but most places I see dosages listed, it is along with a statement informing people that these are generalities. The reason it's not a good idea to list dosages is because it could differ drastically for each person depending on their:

1) Needs
2) Other medical conflicts
3) Current blood work diagnosis

It is too variable a thing to give out blanket dosage information without proper medical supervision. That's probably why it's not allowed here.

I wouldn't advise anything other than seeing a dr, especially dosages. For a place to go to get reliable med./ts info www.tsroadmap.com is run by a  t/s dr.

I don't see how dosage information is interference or additional encouragement.

And yes, I do get the picture, but the fact is people can sue for just about any reason any way, susans.org should not be legally liable in permitting such discussion.

It is illegal in some countries, but susans.org is in the united states. Which means its liability is under U.S. law which as far as I know would be none in allowing discussion of this subject.

I'm curious still - who's to say "what's correct" when everyone is different and why "hope" what? That that flat fact  is NOT the case? Google not working for you? Unable to register somewhere else? As already stated "liability" can only be limited by "rules" otherwise like "belief in a god" (Nero?) all reduces to pure chance and chaos . . . Yes the directed, ordered grand purpose of this forum is "support" but doesn't that also imply a responsibility for having to do some things for ourselves? Any discussion of a "greater being" by definition implies the acknowledgment that "true knowledge" rests somewhere outside "me" as a individual and is thus embodied in discovering that correct balance, purpose or relationship "between us all" . . .

. . . and if we all relied on the one-way "spoon-feeding" of all information (sorry! i know i'm getting carried away with this but my wife, not unlike 'god discussions',  has a tendency to repeat the same questions over and over again then accuses me of "brainwashing" when my responses are always the same) who'd ultimately be left and responsible to bother to check with "the flat facts" - that we're all different yet seemingly same - at all?
