Well, here I come to whine and ask you all a question.

Well since I'm not an adult yet (I'm gettin' there) I've pretty much had small hips up to about age 15. Then I had some massive hip widening and it's really starting to bother me. So for you guys who went through it too- is this just a peak? Am I done? How much more damage can estrogen do to my body in a couple years? (And yeah, I'm talking about the bone here)

Yeah, I know I'm vain but I don't wanna be a girly-hipped guy.

It really depends on the person. My breasts and hips stopped growing when I was about your age. But some people don't stop maturing physically till they are 20. I think the average female body hits the end of growth at 18 and male (since they hit puberty later) around 20 or 22.

I haven't brushed up on my science lately so those numbers could be off.

But my hips are ridiculously huge. I have a very notable hourglass shape and luckily I have broad shoulders so a shirt can cover it. I hope that fat redistribution after hormones will help this.

I really don't recall my hips widening. I think it must have happened at about 11 when everything else happened. I really don't think they grew much beyond that. But I've never had much hips (visibly anyway), so. Clearly it differs. Did you start puberty late? 15 sounds pretty late.

I don't think he is starting late. From the photo they don't look pre-pubescent. Most changes happen during puberty but there is still subtle growth and room for change till a certain age. It shouldn't be much at all. In fact your hip growth could just be you worrying.
You know that wonderful dysphoria we have the pleasure of knowing.

I can't remember when my puberty really started or ended and certaintly don't remember when my hips widenden, I am not entirely sure about how wide my hips are as I am over weight and have love handles.  :-\

Puberty doesn't happen usually all at once and it can be dragged out for years... it all depends on the person.

good point. Sure they actually grew Silverfang?
hmm. I know my breasts continued to grow until about 18, don't think the hips did though. But my breasts were the biggest part, so could be why they continued.
Don't know if hip bones widen in spurts or not. If you gain weight in the hip area, could be that (you don't look like you have extra weight on you though).
Course mileage may vary and all of that. Puberty isn't exactly a science.

If you take testosterone and supress estrogen they will stop.

I remember you said in another thread they measure 12 inch side to side, what's the measurement around them? should width and around the shoulders?

I heard guys increase shoulders by 2 inches or 3.

Also weight and frame?

Well they certainly got bigger than pre-puberty. Nero you're just lucky in that department.

No I'm not carrying too much fat and I have a pretty small frame.

Maybe it's my paranoia, but I'm curvier now and it bothers me that I can't do much about it.

Alright, here are my measurements:
Shoulder circumference (if I did it right) 38 in.
Shoulder width 15
Hip circumference 34
Hip width 12

Thanks for listening.

That doesn't sound that wide at all.. and t will make them lose a bit of fat.

Is the crest measurement with fat around it or tight?

Are the shoulders wider?

I think you will be just fine, especially if the shoulders are wider and you can work that part too.

Well there's no fat around the sides just some love handles.

That's good to hear.

What do you mean love handles?

Is this your picture there?

If it's still the same it seems you have quite a bit below the belly button which is probably where your crests are too? and quite a bit in the middle if not at the sides too, I think you can drop quite a bit of the measure.

I seem to think it to be quite a bit of fat but who knows.....

But in general, the waist above the crests should probably even with the crests in width after t I think.

Yeah that's me. I store it all in my gut and love handles, but I'm not too fat. It doesn't collect on the sides of my hips though. My hips aren't overall huge, but they're too wide for a guy.

Y'know, maybe I should've just PMed Myself (odd as that sounds.)

Even if your hips don't seem very fatty, when you go on T you'll most likely experience at least a bit of noticeable slimming down of the hips.

As to whether they will continue to grow, that's really up to your individual body's genetic makeup. Are you planning on starting T as soon as you hit 18?

That's the intention. I figure there might be some general, common pattern but I guess not. Thanks anyway guys.

It may be more of your rear than your actual hips, that's my problem. My hips are fine from the front but once I turn sideways it's like whoooooomph, hello sir mixalot. I'm not on T, my hips haven't grown/shrunk at all since I was 14 unless I gained/lost weight, and it hasn't affected my passing at all.

I feel your pain.
I've always had a big butt- which I loathe with every fiber of my being. I did lose a good amount last year from a sudden (non-intended) weight loss. I think I've lost a little more since starting T, but it's still way too big.

Your measurements really do sound fine.  Better'n mine, anyways  :P

As for when hip growth stops... I couldn't tell ya.  I actually never made much of a mental note of when my hip growth started & ended.  The overall shape my body was taking on disturbed me, so I just ignored it the best I could; avoided mirrors and wore very baggy clothes so it wouldn't show.  I do have some pretty vicious scars from stretch marks on my lower back, which indicates that my hips widened quickly and a lot.

I am curious how did you measure your hips width? did you stand to a wall, mark with a pencil and then measured with a tape over the wall?

Did you just run a tape through the front of the pelvis side to side? (obviously the back would add quite a lot)

How did you do it?
Are you sure the left to right measurement (if done by wall) is correct?

Other than that, I found this chart some time ago and thought it might help you.

http://www.roymech.co.uk/Useful_Tables/Human/Human_sizes.html

Read how percentiles work, do note there are quite a bit of men in the smaller percentiles of things too.

I am really not sure for the right way of measuring the width. but yours doesn't seem to fit the statistics of the chart a bit.

Held up the tape and eyeballed it. And I honestly can't make heads or tails of the numbers on those charts, although I appreciate it anyway.
