Name Change Problems

I'm changing my name by Deed Poll (UK) this Tuesday. I'm mega excited.
I've got a couple of questions though...

My main concern is my provisional drivers license. Cause I got it less than a year ago, I got one of the new ones that are like "MISS Blah Blah Blah".
I don't look forward to being "MISS Ryan....."
Is there anything I can do about this?

Will future employers need to know my sex? Can I tick the M box? It's not like they're going undress me and check. I hope.
As far as I know, there's not like a central database of peoples' personal information in the UK.

Also, are there any other problems that I'm likely to come across by changing my name?

Thanks,
Ryan

I live in the US so I'm sure it's different, but I had no problem changing my name on documents, including US passport. Our DL's don't have an honorific, thank heavens.

I ran into a little snag trying to get the name changed on my house deed however. Finally I just paid a title company to draw up a quit claim deed, effectively transferring my house to myself. The man at the property inspector's office couldn't wrap his head around the fact that I had changed my name, but he finally understood when I told him that I was the "new" owner of the property and the guy that lived there before was gone lol

Congrats on your name change!

Future congrats on name change :)

I'm not in UK so I can't really help, sorry.

I do understand where you're coming from though. Thought I was going to have the same problem. Still might with a few places... I've not finished changing over everything yet!

I've been asking about titles when doing changes. Sucks to out yourself to so many people - but honestly - they're going figure it out when they see your papers anyway.

Most government institutions over here do not use honorific titles, and those that did allowed me to remove them (I could either remove or use female ones - Mr is not an option until gender marker changed).

Removal of honorific titles was not something that I was told about (even after requesting a title change that they said they couldn't do) - it's an option I had to specifically ask for.

Sure, they're probably still on the computer along with a gender marker - but at least I don't have to actually see them.

Maybe you could try requesting something similar? I know it's a long shot, but here's hoping for you anyway.
