We had a wonderful time together; it is great knowing that I work with such incredible, mentally-matured, and professional people.  It was a wonderful day indeed.  :)

It's been a week since I took over my new position at work, and I am very happy to say that I have made it.  The first two days were rather hectic, but it got better on the third day.  Tonight I was invited to dinner by some friends from work.  We went to Benihana, a famous Japanese restaurant here in Utopia.  We had a wonderful time together; it is great knowing that I work with such incredible, mentally-matured, and professional people.  It was a wonderful day indeed.  :)

Tonight @ the detox center my other EMT partner and I: kept one 19 y/o girl from killing herself (oxycontin and alcohol o.d.), two 19 y/o boys into rehab for heroin, dealt with a ton of crap (management mostly) and violence and now I'm just happy to be home, going to bed cus' I've got to go back there and do it all over again tonight. Not bragging or anything, I love my job and I like it when I can possibly make a difference in some peoples lives who are struggling with drugs / alcohol addiction and to not get stabbed or shot in the process...which we have both come close a few times.

Thanks for listening.

My wife and I hosted a surprise birthday party for her mother saturday. She cooked all day for it (I was banned from the kitchen, lol)... pasta, meatballs, sausage, rolls, salads... and it turned out GREAT.

But it was just SO wonderful to see nearly her entire family all at once... 18 people at one point crammed into our one-bedroom condo, ages 1 year through 70, lol. But it was a lot of fun, everyone was so happy to see one another and catch up. And it was especially nice for her mother to see everyone like that, from great-grandkids on up.

And I made a new friend! Her niece's boyfriend, whom I'd met only briefly before. We sat around all night and talked about everything imaginable, *including* religion and politics, lol. That was fun, being able to just be me with someone who apparently doesn't give a darn that I'm trans. What was nice was we didn't talk about TSism at all... until he was literally leaving, when he gave me a hug and commented something like, "You should never have waited so long to do this. No one should have to suffer living in the wrong body like you did. You're very courageous!"

AND, a neighbor I've always wanted to get to know dropped in. Turns out he's a super-nice guy! I just told him about Kate a few days ago, so that was so cool. A friend of his came by too, and he just introduced me as Kate without any weirdness and awkwardness.

I wish *I* could view all this as casually as everyone else seems to, lol.

Anyways, it was a great day!

But I'll be working off the weight I gained for a month now...

Oh, and I got a very pretty blouse as an anniversary gift from my wife's sister too ;)

We signed a purchase agreement on a house last week and we close on it in October. This is after accepting a new position in another state. A more liberal state!!!  I get to vote for Al Franken for my Senator in 2008!!!!

His years in NY are going to handy cap him in MN. I am a big fan and hope he wins. At least he can see through the political fog.

I cooked myself a delicious dinner of fried rice (cheap, good, and good for you if you put in some vegetables and use olive oil.)

Now I'll respond to a few posts here, because why not?

Sounds great.  There's a Benihana in my hometown (not Utopia) too -- it's definitely a good place to have dinner.

Awesome.  From what I know of it (not too much, admittedly) getting out of DC is always something to celebrate, and San Francisco sounds like a great place to live.  Enjoy the next part of your life!  ;D

I was in DC when I visited the States for my FFS a few years ago.  I found it to be a charming city.  What is so bad about DC? ???

From what I've heard (anyone who has actually lived there is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong) everywhere you can live in DC is either high-crime or very expensive, it's quite crowded, and the traffic is terrible.  Also, I'd think almost all of the jobs there are government jobs, and I wouldn't want to have one of those, but that's me.

I met the youngish daughter of a friend recently. Afterwards, my friend asked her what she thought of me.

I cringed, as I figured no WAY I passed with her, since she hung out with me while I worked on things... and you know how kids can be with knowing TSs...

But the daughter said, "I think she's very pretty!"

OMG, how sweet is that?

Ditto on
Quote"how sweet is that"

I've pierced both ears now but still present as a male. I had some nice stud earrings in while at church a couple weeks ago and the woman next to me commented on how "pretty" my earrings were and then she said "I mean handsome". I told her that pretty is okay too. I just love to hear people describe something I'm wearing as pretty.  You must be very pleased to have your whole being described as pretty Kate.

I am very happy for you and thank you for sharing!!!
