Hi,

has anyone here changed their name on their college diploma? If so, how did you go about it? Just send in a copy of the court order along with a letter, or do they require originals?

Thanks.

copies will most likely do. I got my name change done before graduation but they still need the info for school records. So I cant imagine it being much different.

I went to a college in NYS, and I think I mailed them or faxed them a copy of my name change and that was it for the records. I still want a new diploma though, and all they want from me for that is $20 now that the records are changed.

I live locally, so was able to visit the registrar's office on both campuses.  There was a form to fill out, they might make a copy of your court order, and that's about it.

You shouldn't have any trouble doing this by mail.

You may have to pay for a new diploma (not all places do) and you may also have to send your old one back (don't know why they'd want it, but sometimes they do).
