Hey,

Did any of the guys here have a laparoscopic hysterectomy? This is going to be the procedure I am going to have at the time of my Bottom sugrery part 1.

Can anyone please tell me how long it took for you to regain movement and walk properly?

How long did it take you to get back to work?

Did your body hair take full effect? Did it come through stronger? Anything else different to before?

And any other information that I may have missed out on....

Thanks

Jay

My aunt had a laparoscopic hysterectomy and although I can't give firsthand advice, I will say she went shopping two or three days later.  It's the least invasive technique and it served her well so I am sure it would be great for most people, as compared to the usual technique.

Also, I've heard sometimes T levels have to be lowered as after a hysto, there is no Estrogen to compete with T.  Usually the testosterone aromatizes into estrogen, though, so lowering it is pretty important in that situation.  But mostly, lower doses of testosterone are more effective after a hysterectomy is performed than before.

I had laparoscopic assisted vaginal.  4 incisions, but one was approx. 1.5".  That one was the most painful (felt like burning).  Felt nothing in the lower area at all.  First few days in a drug induced haze, though I did go back to work at day 4 for one day, then off for 5 more days.  Walking pretty much normally within a few days, but you have to take it easy.  Doc recommended 6 weeks off; I think I'd have done better with 4.  Went to a conference 3 weeks post op - all of the airport walking carrying one very small shoulder bag - I thought at the time I shouldn't have done that (conference not so bad; airport bad!).

I had my hysto at 1 month on T and I do think I had changes quicker because of it.

I had mine 3 weeks ago. Was walking around (very slowly) the day after, and after 2 weeks I was back to work and normal activity. It only hurt on occasions, when coughing, sneezing, getting up or walking too fast- but now at wk, there's none of that, just a restriction on lifting over 10lbs (6 wks). For the incisions to heal properly, keep 'em dry, and don't take too many showers/baths ( like 3x per wk, max). Laxatives also help to reduce pressure on the surgical site.

I had laparoscopic assisted vaginal.
I'm ignorant about this, but are they able to remove the ovaries and vagina using this method too or will that have to be a more invasive surgery?

Yes, you can get rid of both of them with laparoscopic hysto

They don't remove the vagina, just the uterus, ovaries, and cervix with this procedure; lower surgery docs will as part of a complete lower surgery package (meta, balls, total hysto, vaginectomy) (depending on surgeon).

That's what I thought. Thanks for clearing that up.
