OTTAWA — A transgendered prostitute who punched a Kanata man in the face after meeting him on a telephone chat line was sentenced to 30 days in jail Tuesday.

Citing Anthony "Vanessa" Kulwartian's five previous convictions for assaultive behaviour, Ontario Court Justice Stephen Hunter said he felt he had no choice but to sentence the 29-year-old to time behind bars for the March 27 assault on Keith Maheux.
