I have a message open on my facebook that reads: "There's something that I wanna tell you.  It's the type of thing that I need to tell you alone, but it's nothing sneaky or creepy.  It's just something I don't want widely known."

It's to my friend that lives with her boyfriend, and who is very hot, hence the "nothing sneaky or creepy" thing.  I need some sort of a good friggin' reason to send this.  I think it's absolutely pathetic that I need further motivation to send this.

Personally I would skip facebook and do it from the beginning over coffee or ice cream without the dramatic intro.

Yeah.  Still need to set up the encounter though, and I need it clear that I don't want her boyfriend there and that, no, I'm not a psychopath.

wanna grab a coffee? I kinda need to talk to you alone, so... no bf please?

Something like that.
No need to have a "lot" of things in the post. Just a quick yo can do the trick.

I'm with Becca a facebook message is so impersonal, call her and tell her you would like to meet.  However, if you can only reliably contact her via facebook I think Miniar has the best suggestion.

If you have to qualify your message with "nothing sneaky or creepy" then is this person a close enough friend to warrant such a conversation in the first place??

Oh god yeah.  She's like the nicest, sweetest girl, and one of a short list of people that seems to be genuinely trustworthy.  Her boyfriend thought I had a thing for her once.  Which, y'know, isn't NOT true, it's just that I have restraint.  That was two years ago though.  I guess she'll probably think that it's something to do with my ex girlfriend (she's a mutual acquaintance.)  I dunno.  I have another friend who already knows that I could talk to, but our friendship's been sort of rocky lately.  She basically castrated her boyfriend, and went all completely square and was really mad at me for having sex with someone I didn't love (like it's any of her damned business what I do) and I'm ranting.  Whoops.

Well it's been a week and I'm dying to know how it went!

It didn't went.  But I have a crush on a new girl, and I always tell girls I date.
