I havn't transitioned at work for financial reasons, but I dress fairly androgenous when I have to be male.   The last couple times I went out with some co-workers, the waitress has said something along the lines of "What about you maam" and none of my co-workers have even flinched.

Another thing that hs made my day is after a long day at work (again, a bit andro.) I was on the elevator to my apartment, a new neighbor of mine who's only seen me as Allison on the weekends ran into me on the elevator and she remembered who I was and we talked a bit without her giving me any strange looks.

Makes me feel good about myself when people treat me normally. :D

A gal who knows my male name covered for me rather than outing me to her co-workers  :icon_chick:

Now this is a rare thing and well worth feeling good about. I'm glad you know someone who was/is kind.

Last weekend I met a friend outside of the bar. He had a friend with him that had never met me before who immediately started gushing about how I was the cutest person they'd ever seen.

Him and his roommate's always make sure to keep my 'secret' safe whenever I'm at their parties too. It's nice knowing people like that. :)

omg omg omg!
okay, i just went to the local packie and i go up and tell him what i want from behind the counter. its this kinda young skinny indian dude and i hear him say something but he got like an accident and i'm practically half deaf as it is so i couldnt really hear him and after he said it a couple more times i realised he was asking "are you a boy or a girl?" omg i almost had a heartattack! no ones ever questioned my gender yet. and i finally realised what he said and kinda froze up, but before i could start to think again or anything hes just like 'oh, er forget it, what was it you wanted?' like kinda embarassed cause he looked away and sorta shook his head like 'stupid me', dang i felt so bad! i'm just bad like that sometimes i just freeze up and dont know what to say, i think i was kind nervous too saying 'im a boy' =(  but it sucked anyways cause i was getting scratch tickets so he had to see my ID cause he asked if i was 18 (at first he didnt say anything, but maybe he just really wanted to know what gender i was, too bad he saw my id since its wrong :/ )  then on top of it he said my hair looks nice in the id pic (which was before i cut it and i look like a total girl =(  ugh! stupid me! why didnt i just say 'im a guy!' and on top of it i had like a nervous laugh so i just blew it and sounded like a chick.... =( =( well hopefully one day i can redeem myself and let him know im a guy. though i hope hes not all 'no you arent, if says F on your liscense or anything like that. i know religious people can get all weird like that sometimes (no offense)

omg though, that was just awesome, made my whole week!!!! i just hope next time i am not nervous or ashamed and can say 'im a guy'! (hopefully im not buying scratch tickets or cigs though, haha)

Ummm...I bought my first "dude" (for lack of a better description) shirt today.  Totally awesome.  Oh yeah, I've got this great necklace-thing coming in the mail...completely trans related necklace. XD

Oh yeah, this forum completely made my day, too. :D

Had my 3-month checkup with the doctor and I'm now on a normal dose of estrogen instead of a low dose.  Added progesterone too!

Got some recognition at work in front of about a hundred people, including upper management (yay!) but still in guy mode at work (boo!).  At least this should help for when I do transition at work.

Met a local MtF that's really close to my age and it's looking like we'll be good friends!

I was at Fremont solstice fair in Seattle yesterday and a woman in the parade was hugging people who were close to the sides of the street. She went 'hey man' and snuggled up to me, then jumped and was like 'woah you're not a man' and laughed. I was wearing an open hoodie with nothing under it because I was one of the bicyclists (though I only took my shirt off for it). Paint or no paint, I passed with my boobs out. That blew my mind a little.

For those who aren't familiar with the parade, something like 600 people bicycle around in a group either half or completely naked through Ballard and the parade line.

It always makes my day when I Google "female to male" or something of that sort, and I come up with a site about extension cords.  ::)

Why would anyone need a website for that?

had to take my wife to an appointment this morning and I went to grab a bite at mickyD's...no makeup, no bra, no special effort - and the girl says "Can I help you ma'am?

BIG grin.

Had that happen a few days ago too but that time i did have some concealer on.

I went to introduction at the college I'm going to, and found out they had queer studies as a freshmen seminar.

I finally bought my first pair of jeans. I usually only wear dresses or skirts out in public because I worry that I have guy hips. After getting my new jeans I visited a friend and she happened to have a bunch of other people over that I had never met before. Afterwords I asked my friend if she thought anyone had noticed that I was trans and she said that nobody even mentioned it. Then the next day I went on a walk with my roommate while wearing the same pants and a car full of guys whistled at us as they drove by:) IMMD
Now I can finally start believing my roommate when she tells me that I'm shaped like a female.  :D

I have a good friend on another board who has seen my "before" pic and i asked her what she thought of the most recent one and she told me that both she and her husband came to the same conclusion independently. the guy in that photo looks beaten, burdened, resigned to misery - you can, she said, see it in his eyes.

The girl in the recent photo (she was speaking of the one in my av now) looks joyful, excited, hopeful.

It left me speechless.

Today, I was walking down the halls of my school after the bell had rang for the passing of one class to another. Today, I had felt the random need to get all dressy (nice work shirt, nice black pants, nice shoes, and a nice clean red tie). Whilst walking down the hall, this random male student walked by me, patted my chest (while walking) and said, in a sarcastic tone "Nice tie, Guy." and continued to walk, laughing.
He aimed to belittle me, but what he doesn't know is that he made me feel so accomplished. XD IMMD

My boss called me into his office toward the end of the day today. The Chief of Operations was in there.

Close the door behind you, I was instructed.

Chief of Operations: Effective immediately, your security badge has been upgraded to grant you access to the gender-neutral restroom in the Executive/Accounting part of the building. I have a letter here that will go in your file stating that we don't want you to have to endure the embarassment of having to use male-specific restrooms. I know your name change isn't legal yet, but I put [legal first name]/Sydney on the letter.

You should know that we're doing this for you.

Come on. I'll show you where the restroom is.

Non-trans: I was talking to a long-time friend this morning.  I mentioned something that happened around my 50th birthday.  He looked at me and said: Oh that's right - you are older than that. :)

Trans: I've outed myself to a number of people I wanted to stay in contact with.  Today I ran into someone I didn't want to stay in contact with.  She didn't recognize me.  (Yay.) :)

I like that!

I have a little fantasy about certain events in the future - the first one being the graduation of the class i taught during my one year of full time teaching next spring - of going into the presence of various people who knew "him" and seeing if anyone recognizes me.

Today...

I found out through my sister that my mom is ok with me transitioning at least with HRT, however she does not approve of/want me to get bottom surgery. I wasn't planning on getting surgery down there anyways. :)

All three therapists I've been to and the doctor that is going to be prescribing me HRT say I pass ("you look male.") Course that says nothing for my high voice, but I expect it to change relatively soon.
