Transsexual lessons for 5-year-olds
By JOHN HIGGINSON CHIEF POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT - Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Children as young as five could be taught about transsexuals in 'gender equality' classes, it was announced yesterday.

Lessons on equality and domestic violence will be included in personal, social and health education, which will be a compulsory part of the curriculum from 2011.

Officials will produce new rules for teachers on tackling 'sexist, sexual and transphobic bullying' in the classroom and schools will be marked on how well they are teaching children, schools minister Vernon Coaker said.

Youngsters in schools will also be taught that it is wrong to hit girls and not to bully transsexuals as part of the national curriculum.

Trainee teachers will have to learn about gender awareness and domestic violence before they can qualify and Ofsted will inspect how well schools are performing in promoting equal opportunities and preventing gender violence.

I agree, why not just "wrong to hit PEOPLE"? Surely that would make more sense anyway?

That aside, I think this is a good idea and I'm glad. (:
