First friendship I'm losing over this...

One of my friends has been completely nasty and condescending about my being trans for some time now. It's gotten to the point where if I post a facebook status using male pronouns, or referring to myself as "he" she ALWAYS posts a comment telling me that "You are a GIRL, *birth name*". She says she knows me better than herself, and that I'm overdramatizing. Yeah, because posting all over my facebook trying to tell me that I'm not who I am, and getting in fights with every friend who tries to defend me, (and then lying and saying they attacked HER) is TOTALLY not dramatic.
This is the first friendship I will have to end because of being trans. I know it probably won't be the last...

A friend who went through all of this a few years prior to myself told me once that some of the people who seem to accept you right away may drift away, and some of the people who didn't accept you at first may come back. There are no guarantees as to what the future may bring, but who knows?

Wow. I take great offense at being called "sir" or "he" at anytime! I take it you feel the same way about "ma'am" or "she."

I feel your pain.

Until people begin to see you are totally serious about this they'll either respect you or drift away. It will also be a time to see who you're real friends are and who are not.

it's time for new friends.

with "friends" like these, who needs enemies.

It's one thing to have trouble getting used to the idea that you prefer male pronouns, and another to try to publicly humiliate you on Facebook - that's just b*->-bleeped-<-. Yeah, you'll probably have to let her go as a friend, but remember that you will also be making lots of new friends as you transition and after you've transitioned. So, win some lose some I guess!
