What does "Heva" mean?

This morning we found a piece of tape with the word "Heva" placed on our van. We live in a racially mixed neighborhood in California and the next door neighbor house is an outreach to Hispanic gang members. We have not publicized our relationship here so all the neighbors know is that we are two women living together.

I have searched the web for this and found nothing. It is frightening because they had to come on our property to do this.

The police looked at it and do not recognize it as a gang tag that they know of and so far they don't know what it means.

I too come up dry on internet search for the acronym, gang sign, or term.

I might ask how the letters were written.  There is some information describing how to decipher graffiti here:
http://www.gangsorus.com/graffiti.html

If it was written in a stylized way, it may present some information about what it represents.

Additionally, it is interesting that it was taped to your vehicle.  If it was true graffiti, they would have vandalized your van by painting directly on it.

I'm glad you had the police look at it.  Perhaps they can keep an eye out for you.

Have you had any other incidents?

I found "Heva" it is a Hebrew word for Eve (of Adam and Eve fame)with emphasis on "Female Serpent."
The word was in quotations in black marker on 2" wide white tape.

Our neighbor does have Christian services there and Hebrew could be discussed there. This is very unsettling.

They have weekly garage sales and also sell Amway products. This brings lots of strange people into our cul-de-sac. Last summer, as I was leaving the van and walking into the house, one of the men staying there gave me a glaring look that made my blood run cold. I rushed into the house and locked the door just to be safe.

They had a garage sale there yesterday.

Hi Maggie,

Your right..it is a difficult one to find...but I suspect it is slang for "Lesbian"

On further inspection, the tape is actually a 2" by 4" paper label with adhesive on the back. The marking is by a black felt tip sharpie.  So whoever did this has access to office supplies, particularly mailing labels. We have them because we have a home business.

My daughter thinks it is a prank by some child.

I'm still very nervous about it.

Heva Definition from Religion & Spirituality Dictionaries & Glossaries

Rakefet

Eve
Eve Hawwah (Hebrew) [from hawah to breathe, live] Mystically the mother of all living, an allegorical yet actual figure in all archaic cosmogonies. Genesis describes three Eves:
1) the archetypal Eve, the feminine aspect of the divine androgyne which is on the one hand Abel and of Seth, here beginning the course of human history after the awakening of mind.
The first Eve was no woman but, like the first Adam, the spiritual feminine aspect of an archetypal spiritual host; the second was no woman but womankind; while the third was woman and mother as now known. They companion and correspond to the three Adams: the first, the spiritual albeit masculine type of the archetypal host; the second, the mindless first human race; and the third, "the race that [had fully] separated, whose eyes are opened" (SD 2:46n). Between the Eve of Genesis and Eve the mother of Seth (Genesis 4) passed long ages, involving millions of years during which the archetypal preparation of the globe for human habitation was followed by distinct root-races and three Edens, with millions of years between even these latter.
to be continue "Eve2 "

This and other references suggest it could also be a local slang word for transgendered...

I really hope it's just a prank.. :icon_flower:

I know this post is super old but I came across it and wanted you to know that whoever wrote it doesn't know how to spell. hee hee  They meant to write "jeva" which is slang in parts of Latin America for "woman".  Basically a sexy woman.  So them putting this on your van is not a bad thing. :)  I hope you read this and it alleviates any hate you think you might have encountered.
