Voice after T

A bit opposite of the other voice threads...

I've been on T for jsut shy of 4 months now. My voice is definitely male now...but now I have a new problem: I can't sing, and every time I start talking in an excited voice it starts cracking all over the place. I honestly can't even sing along with the radio anymore because I can't seem to hit ANY notes--the low ones are still a tad too low, and the high ones my voice cracks and squeaks.

I don't want to sound like a tone deaf 13-yr old and would like to find the comfortable range for my new voice (preferrably as it changes instead of waiting to stop, as I hear that can go for years)...any advice on how to "settle" into the dropping voice?

From what I understand, your body needs to get used to it, I think it's called muscle memory.
Give it time, keep trying you will get the hang of it.

Being from the other forum, I am one of few who never had their voice broken and squeaking, so I can't tell much from experience.

If you're a singer, just keep singing through it(without straining of course) and find where your range is. It really is just a matter of adjusting to your new voice.

4 months?  You're still in puberty!!  Get used to it!! LOL

I'm 18 months in and mine still cracks, esp. now that it's winter and my usual post-nasal drip has set in.  Talking with a guy on line and he's constantly after me about my cough, like I'm coming down with something LOL.

Be patient.

Maybe Dennis will chime in; he's several years in and now sings again.

You need to re-gain control over it.

Sing through it, re-wire muscle memory, and so on.. all the good advice you've been given.

It took me about 10 months before my voice was sufficiently stable to start trying to sing again. My singing voice is still not nearly as good as it was prior to T, but the more I work on it, the better it gets. I've been on T for something like 16 or 17 months now, and while my voice will still crack on rare occasions, it's stable the vast majority of the time. Don't worry, you'll get there. However, there's really nothing you can do to expedite the process. You just have to wait until things stabilize.
