Hello guys and gals,

Just wanted to know if any one knew of some good supplements I can take to help me with my weight loss. I need to lose weight for may (bottom surgery) I have started running and eating right. But with the T its hard for me to lose the weight, no matter how much I try. I have been takening Green Tea Suppements for about 2 months now and drinking the tea also. I have searched on the internet for weight loss supplements and as you can image I have been flooded with pages.. so I thought I would ask around here!

Hey Jay,

Weird, I would have thought T would help. Maybe it is helping you put on muscle which will help you burn fat. But muscle is heavy, you may not loose much actual weight.

My wife has used a range of things, but not too much success. For real results I think the prescription stuff is better e.g. xenical. You could talk to the doc about it.

Perhaps you could examine your eating more, work at your proportions, reduce fats - eat lots more veges, and some lean proteins (size of your palm is one portion), avoid prepackaged food. Cook with a non-stick pan, eat more wholegrain, cut out junk food, takeaways, chips, and fizzy drinks, get some low energy snacks. Use light milk. If you are using more energy than you are putting in then you will loose weight. Sounds easy but it can be fricking hard to change eating habits..

Or you could join something like weight watchers and use their point system - it works when you follow it. My wife lost lots of weight that way but he had to really change the way we cooked.

Best of luck!

don't know of anything that really works. I would make sure you are using a food log to count calories, weighing everything you eat and so on. That helped me a lot, portions really need to be small that alone may be the key.Definitely no alcohol. How many calories are you eating a day?
One thing I tried but I am not sure it worked was Pyruvate. Suppose to work best with working out and eating right, but that always cracks me up when they say that because if you were eating right and exercising you will lose weight just from that alone. Would be interesting to see how many calories you are eating to start.
Good Luck

I have had good results from low carbing and using Cayenne fruit, roughly 3000mg a day, and with Orlistat. With lots and lots of exercise I would imagine the Cayenne would be better, but having to sit for 8 hours a day like I do, the Orlistat is my weapon of choice. Both of these pills are hard on your bottom, but in different ways. The Cayenne was getting great results, but I just couldn't handle the abuse dished out on me by both supplements and the Orlistat works better.

Try going low glycemic as a diet choice (it's also low carb). I managed to drop from 158 to 140 in less than 2 months. At the time, I was also intensely athletic, and my calorie count was probably less than 1750 cal/day. This weight loss was not my choice, nor was I even overweight to begin with.

It is more difficult for the body to extract energy from fat and protein, that's the fundamental reason why low carb works. The trick is getting the body to actually do it. Deriving energy purely from ketosis is about 2/3 as efficient, so that 1750 calories translates into about 1100 on a normal diet that includes sugars and starches.

Low carb is kind of my thing, it changed my life more than even hrt did. I have some awesome recipes too for low carb cheesecake and ice cream that make the transition easier and are actually rather tasty.

Thanks guys great advice.

I am currently on xenical however I have been prescibed it only for two months and I need to lose 2kg or 2lbs for each month otherwise the doctor will take me off it.  :-\ I only lost 1kg last month, without hardly any excerise. I shall see what I weigh in this week.  How oftern would you recommened to weigh yourself?

Try weighing yourself twice every day: once in the morning after going to the washroom before you eat or drink, and at night, right before you go to sleep. These will be the most accurate measurements. Remember, never wear clothing when you weigh yourself (obvious, I know... I'll shut up now).

Also, remember, supplements are only used to supplement a healthy lifestyle and diet. They will not do the heavy lifting for you.
