SINGAPORE : Ballet is a performance dance that dates back to the late 15th century. Over time, graceful ballerinas and the pointe shoes they wear have become a symbol of this artform.

But when all-male ballet company Les Ballets Grandiva performs at the Esplanade Theatre on Thursday, its art director Brian Norris says they will reclaim the spotlight from female ballet dancers in their gender-bending comedy ballet production "Men in Tutus".

As the name suggests, it will feature male dancers in tutus and pointe shoes to dance 'en pointe' as ballerinas.
