I got my taxes done today...handed the clerk all my papers, and even though everything I handed her was plastered with "FEMALENAME* she still used all male pronouns with me, even addressed me as Chris (which is also the shortened version of my birthname). I figured, ok, maybe they were just being polite or not paying attention...
Then I called a place for car insurance the same day, and over the phone rattled off *BIRTHNAME* as well as all my car infos to start a new thing...he also called me all male pronouns over the phone. Then he stops and says "um, there is a discrepancy in your vehicle history...it says female on one of your claims." So then I said yes, that's correct. He then stops, quiet, and replies, "so I don't mean to be rude, but are you male or female so I can change it on your form?" I laugh, explain my gender marker still reads female.
It seems like sometimes even blatantly female things just don't click with people. I was even addressed by my full name by the insurance guy and still didn't click, lol...not tat i'm complaining

Also it seems my ID needs to be updated...people no longer believe my picture is me.
