If a church wants to be against homosexuals or transsexuals that is their choice. What right does this community have to force them against their will to participate in something they are against? Would you like it if you were forced to hire sex offenders to work in a preschool? I do not think so. How would you like to be forced to participate in executions if you are against the death penalty? You wouldn't. There is no difference here. Deal with it and move on.

Well if it became a law that preschools were required to hire ex-sex offenders how different would it be than forcing churches to hire homosexuals? Preschool do not want sex offenders around preschools and churches do not want homosexuals working for them.

As much as I disagree with the theological justification for the Church's attitudes toward homosexuality and TG, I have to say I think Natalie has a point.

The difference, I belive, is Paedophiles are criminals. And nobody but the executioner is required to carry out death sentances... (They get the job of thier own free will too)

Transsexual people and GLB people are not criminals, and are doing nothing wrong, nor do they choose this.... Thus, how are they hypocritical?

Discrimination is not baring someone from a role because of gender or sexuality in this case, Nobody is 'forcing' anyone to hire glbt people, merely give them the same chance as others.

Natilie's comparison with sex offenders is silly.

But since the churches have held these attitudes for well over 1000 years, is it likely that they can be persuaded to change their positions by imposing staff that they might feel uncomfortable with?

No law says that they have to hire GLBT people.  But if they have hired a peoson who later turns out to be GLBT, they can not fire them because of it.

Okay, here are the parts you got wrong;

a) No one is forcing a church to hire a homosexual for religion-oriented position.
b) No one is forcing a church to even preform wedding ceremonies they don't want to.
c) There's a huge difference between a pedophile who's been convicted of a horrible crime being allowed to hang around his/her favorite victims, and giving Equal Civil Rights to a group of people who have not hurt another human being. To suggest there's "no difference" there is an obviously false statement.
d) There's a huge difference between forcing a person to take a life against their will, and giving Equal Civil Rights to a group of people who are not hurting anyone. To suggest there's "no difference" there is an obviously false statement.

I think there are ways to state your opinion without having to attack certain groups or liken them to criminals.

What we are talking about here is prejudices and the treatment of individuals as second class (or sometimes no class) citizens.

Of course no one wants a sex offender working in a preschool because their past behavior shows that it is putting the children in danger. By likening those in the LGBT community to this kind of person is perpetuating the false idea that they are sexual deviants who will corrupt the world.
